2011 5.0 mustang..what do guys think??
The interior, looks and the 4 doors (sorry.. still cant get over a "sports car" with 4 doors...) still push me away from the subies. The new ones are not bad.. but still not my thing at all. Would not mind having an older 2.5 RS to build into an ST classed autocrosser, but not for something I drive every day.
I wouldnt touch a used GTO. They made them bland as crap looking when they finally came out with them and they came straight from the factory with front end issues that they didnt want to fix. I know a guy who autox's one.. and even he would not buy another one. I think I was usually 3-4 seconds faster than it at our events. Of course, on a track it may be a bit different just due to straights and his power, but the front end issues caused the alignment to change suddenly (toe changes) during hard braking, which he described as "effing terrifying" on a road course to say the least. Pontiac told him they would replace the front end parts that wore out to cause the issue (issue starts at about 20,000 miles I think) with the exact same parts. So... the 2nd time would be out of warranty ;) You could buy aftermarket parts to fix it for a few hundred bucks I think.. but that is just poor customer service.
I agree that the live axle on the stang is not the best setup, but like I mentioned, all test drivers have been amazed at how well they made it handled in this new one, even without IRS.
I always thought of vettes as an old mid life crisis mans car since you rarely see anyone in the passenger seat... but now I look at them as something that will hit the used market with virtually no use on them because of that
There really is no bang for your buck sports car out there right now like it unless you count the GTR.. but that is only if you want a robot car with no personality. The GTR may as well come with a robot to drive for you. The vette is still a good, rwd, b@lls to the wall sports car that can handle like a Porsche for much less. And I have been at autox/top speed runs with both. There is not even a slight comparison between hearing a Z06 at WOT running down a runway and what sounds like an angry VW beetle coming your way! The only thing that compared to the sound and look of the Z06 that day was a Ford GT.

The new Mustang GT is a beast. I will have one in my drive way in a few years. Its sad that American and Korean cars (Ford & Hyundai) are putting their Japanese counter parts to shame.
And what's your point? Judging by the Stingray concept and this: http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrole...e-5-5l-v8.html I don't have to wait for it to be released to comment on how bad the styling looks.

Russ,
I drove the Ford Fusion for a week last week on a business trip (rental). My take on it.
Handling... not terrible for what it is. Not a bad feeling car.
Power.. Also not bad. Not fast of course but does the job well.
Auto trans: shifted pretty well. Didnt hunt and feel awkward as bad as some. Of course, it is an auto, so you still have to mash the pedal and have a sandwich waiting for it to shift, but no worse than the others.
Interior: Rental model, so nothing special. But fit and finish are pretty good, seats felt ok for the small amount of driving I did. Stereo sounded pretty good for a stocko system. Sirius tuner worked fine and the aux jack made good sound from my phone. Pretty roomy and a good amount of trunk space.
Overall, just a daily driver but seemed like a decent one at least

I'm picking between
Fusion, camry, accord, jetta and maybe civic but i think civic will be too small for me and i dont want to drive a civic..
I really hope i get myself into a Fusion for a 24 month lease
I dont care about options too much, as ling as its got a sunroof i'll be fine with the rest and i'm going to get a sport bike to enjoy my weekends since my tC is staying in NY to keep the miles off it.
My brother just bought then new 5.0. Got to drive it not too long ago on leave. It is a rocket. Evolution performance already has an N/A 5.0 in the 10s. Granted though, after driving it, it's got nothing on my GT500, haha. You're in the same boat i was Emperor. I wasn't a muscle guy either but when i stumbled across my shelby it changed my whole opinion. I'm a striaght line guy, just took a little muscle to realize that.
I test drove a V6 and its not bad. I hate the shifting though. 2nd is a pain to shift too after driving the tC. You literally have to pull down and way left to get 2nd. I kept having to hold the clutch in much longer to not grind it. Also the damn button for the center console is right where my elbow sits and it always pops open. That was a stupid design. Other than that not bad.

did you kno that down the 1320 the new stang is right there wit the 08gt500? and would beat its azz on a track. ran the exact same time as the m3 on the road course as well. a couple bolt ons and good tires 11's are in plain view. i know that i decided against the sti for the mustang.
i did read his signature and i also seen his time posted as well, so i dont see how the gt would have nothing on it. specially if you get rid of the crappy pzeros that come stock on it for some decent rubbers the times would be even more comparable.
i had an 09 mustang (rental) last year and that car was sick! i really like what they did to the front of the new ones, it looks way more agressive! i had the same grin on my face everytime i drove it. ear to ear lol
i say go for it!
i say go for it!
yea they look good but 2011 is when they installed the totally redesigned 5.0. 08 still had the 4.6

As for the road courses i got nothin', the shelby's are tanks.
I have a bunch of things waiting for me in the states when i get back.........slew of parts just sitting in their UPS boxes in the garage. Shipping info says, "From: Kenne Bell". Thus why i said what i said, haha.

A friend of mine got the new 5.0. I've never considered purchasing an american car in my life until i got in that car and he punched it. I've watched him beat 370z's, camaros (even a couple ss models), g37's, boxsters, you name it.
Personally other than the cool lighting effects, the interior is a little bland to me. Plus where I live mustangs are a dime a dozen so if it's the same in your area and image is important to you I should point out that the only people who get impressed by my bud's car are either the people he beats or mustang owners themselves, and a handful of car enthusiasts.
But that speed makes it worth it in my opinion. Plus the sync feature is really nice to have. Again I normally would never get an american car but right now im debating between the 5.0 mustang, the 370z, and 335is.
