Default Did Lexus ever use Isuzu engines in their SUVs?

OMG yes I know (!) this question is <a little> off topic, but I really need an answer to this question fast for someone at work and I know some of you guys know the answer to this question. I've done some searching and found that the Toyota V8s are probably the finest V8 engines the world has ever known (silent, silky, torquemonsters that can be built up to 3000 horsepower), but anyway...

Is the Toyota V8 used in any of the Lexus SUVs an in-house design, or was it originally derived from something else?

I can make this on topic by saying that I finally got my tC up to over 600 miles yesterday. Four hundred miles and a switch to synth and I can finally redline the sucker!!!!

Could you clarify that a bit? Did yamaha engineers help them design an all new in house V8 for the LS400? As far as I can tell searching around the net, the LS400 V8 was a brand new 4 balance shaft design, that has more or less been retained (though with different displacements) to this day for all Toyota V8 cars.

All toyota V8s, including the ones used in Lexus Cars and SUVs, are in house. Yahmaha was resposible for the engine in the 2000gt, as well as (or at least partially) for the 4AGE 20v, 2ZZ, 3S-GE beams, 1JZ, 2JZ and any engine that has a BEAMS head design (they helped develop the head design).

Honda/Acura would the the Company with the Isuzu link (Honda passport is an Isuzu Jeep). They also used Isuzu diesels I believe in the overseas market.

My mas friggin Honda Passport used a isuzu engine w/ GM drivetrain. Worst honda ever produced. Nothing but trans and engine issues w/ that thing. And on top of that, they did a horrible job on the leather and moonroot and at this point in time, it is a totaly POS junk.

Anyway....

You just dont get it huh? The old celica had the 3S-GE engine. The new celica's 2ZZ is also yahmaha developed. MOST G series engine heads are of yahmaha design/development. As a matter of fact, while double checking my info, i found out that the 2JZ is an inhouse toyota design.

The 7M and 5M are developments of the 200gt engine so they can be considered of some yahmaha heritage.

Of course yahmaha produces a lot of the parts used in toyota engines, but that has nothing to do with the development of the engines themselves.

i'm not talking 32ge i'm talking 70's celica's.

i don't know where you get your info but i'm being told by VERY , VERY credible factory techs that 2jz is yamaha.

lots of yamaha parts makes it a somewhat yamaha motor imo.

and it's YAMAHA . not yahmaha

we may be butting heads over designed and part sourced but still.
