Default Ford using Sony as audio supplier - Thoughts?

Ford just today announced that since Ford of Europe was using Sony as the supplier for their audio systems, Ford here in the US would start that too.

What are your thoughts of an automaker using Sony as a supplier of headunits?

seriously, what does it matter? did i buy my tc because it's head unit is made by pioneer? did my dad buy his 95 explorer because it had a jl audio head unit? i mean seriously people don't buy cars based on the radio it comes with the possible exception of satellite radio. radio's are one of the cheapest things to change to your exact liking. it is the other stuff like the engine, styling, mpg handling, utility, etc that are harder and more expensive to modify to your liking.

I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you asking about an American automaker using a foreign audio? or are you asking what we think of Ford's usage of Sony in their cars?

IMO on An american automaker using a foreign companies audio is not strange to me. Alpine was offered in Lincoln cars for a while. They might still be doing it. Alpine's high end stuff is still made in Japan, anything else is made in China. As far a quality of stock stereo, I'm more impressed by bose.

If you are talking about Sony in a Ford product. Well I am a little biased there. I hate Sony, they make proprietary hardware and software that is mediocre at best and then they drop the format for the "new" stuff. Ford, well I don't like them either, their cars at least. I'd take a truck from them. Their cars are piles if you ask me.

I don't know if the US will get sony in the fords. The market is completely different in Europe. They get cars like the Cosworth Escort, AWD turbo engine. Or the Puma, a super nice looking car. Plus the auto industry is different also. They don't have the likes of Crown Victoria's or maurader's in Europe due to high petrol costs. Even the tuning scene is different. They'll take a car about the size of a xA and go nuts on everything, alacantra upholstery, huge ICE, Huge Rims, crazy body kits, and crazy engine upgrades. If you get a chance check out MaxPower or Redline magazine. You can find them in most major book retailers. Anyway it'll give you an insight into the car culture there from a tuner/modifiers POV.

I dunno if we'll get it here but if we do I don't most people will even think twice about it. Kinda like how the xB was advertised to have a six speaker pioneer radio system. No one really cared it was just another tagline the advertisers used. Kinda went in one ear and out the other.
