when i was going to UTI, we had a GTO with a turbo...blew a hole in the piston....so you might want to dump money into that engine to hit the 500HP area!!

You realize that your insurance company will probably rape you if you buy a GTO right?
Yeah...but he could just go to his local agent's office and do cool burnouts and donuts in the parking lot.

personally ... as far as cars in that class, I'm partial to the charger r/t.

but hey, if you're a goat kinda guy, than you need to get a goat. a charger definately isnt a goat, then again, technically, neither is the current gto's ...

So factor in the cost of many tires as well...

sti may be 300 turbo'd hp stock, but those things are SUPER moddable. plus its AWD, so putting the power to the ground would be much easier. so like you say... supercharge a goat for at least 500 ponies and smoke your rears every time you apply some nice throttle, or get some new engine management and a few power upgrades for the STi for 400+hp. personally, id go STi. but hey, goats are pretty bada$$!

i love my 4 banger with its awesome mpg.. but my love for 8 cylinders will always be there.. id take the GTO any day ive seen some pretty awesome mods for that thing.. but i also work for a muscle car performance shop... and i know they aint producing anymore GTO's..they sell more than there quota.. so when that happens finding parts for em will be hard too..

if your really looking for something new and faster with the 8 cylinder power, id just wait till 2008 or 2009 for the release of the Camaro.. or the release of the Challenger R/T..

...or just get a 2004-07 Ford Cobra

Even if the GTO was only 300 HP NA, it would still have a bettter power band that a turbo 4 banger with similar power (STI) that loses more to the drivetrain through AWD. The GTO isnt much to look at stock, but IMO niether is an STI .. its a 4 door for gods sake (I still cant believe they made it that way). If I bought an STI, it would be a used one that I planned on running rally in.

The GTO is a nice car.. but , there are some reliability issues to deal with and like I mentioned, it is a bit bland.

It all depends on what you want to do with it though. If you want a rwd car that is fun to auto-x, I would look more to the MR-S. If you want straight line performance, then a GTO might be for you.

And I agree, the Camaro will be a nice deal if they actually make it like the concept. The challenger is awesome looking, but I believe will be more expensive.. and personally, I havent seen dodge build a good tranny in anything... ever, so I am leary of them.

lol, well these are alot of great ideas and alot of helpful input but i'm not in any hurry.. thanks for the input guys...

the mor i think about it it wouldn't be bad to go ahead and turbo the tC i have and wait for either the new comaro or the supra (if it happens) or hell, if i save up enough of a down payment i could bust out a Lotus!

If you turbo, get the LSD! Hell, we need one horribly to begin with!

And how! I'd give any one (or two) of various body parts for one of those.

save up a nice down payment and sell the tC with = Bigger down payment and the Lotus Elise and Exige start at 45,000 so if i save up 5-6 grand down sell my tc for at least 15 (it's worth more than that) then there it is!

Only problem with that is you would probably need another car...the Elise is extremely impractical.

Of course, I'd drive a $200 pile of rotting crap to be able to put a bumper sticker on it that said; "My other car is an Elise." and mean it. :D
