Default Intro: Beck (Cobalt SS 2.4L) -- 56k Maybe

Beck Here!

I dont own a Scion TC, But i'd thought i'd check out the community.

I own a Black 2006 Cobalt 2.4L SS/NA, mostly decked out with appearance mods etc. In the process of fabricating a turbo set up but working on routing the intercooler piping and a tuning solution... the engine bay is CRAMPED and not leaving me much room to play with the plumbing.

I'm located in Nor Cal (Sacramento) and I am one of the cofounders of 'Nor Cal Ecotec'.... a small car club containing about 20 cobalts and ions mainly (or any cars reppin an ecotec engine).

I know that the naturally asperated SS Cobalt and the TC are pretty close in terms of power, so I just thought i'd join up to see what kinda numbers and mods the TC is sportin'. Also just looking to meet more people intersted in cars in my area.

So far my mods are:

Apperance/Interior:
*AVS Tail Light Covers
*Projector Headlights
*Tint
*Eyelids
*Painted Rotor hubs and Calipers
*Carbon Fiber Bowties
*SS/SC Front Fascia and Rear Spoiler
*SS Leather interior Swap
*Painted Interior Trim
*Custom Floormats
*Black Kyowa 210 18x7.5
*Sony CDX-GT300 Head Unit
*SmoothLocks
*Shorty Antenna
*Custom Black Mesh Grill
*Rk Sport Hood (not shown)

Performance:
*GMPP Intake
*Magnaflow Catback Exhaust
*TWM Short Shifter
*Eibach Sportlines
*GMPP Slotted and Drilled Rotors
*Khumo Ecsta SPT Tires 225/40/18
*JBP Strut Bar
*ZZP Down Pipe
*CA Header

yeah its difficult to work with. The engine is tilted so it kinda screws everything up in terms of room. The intake manifold will also need to be replaced because its made of plastic. Although it allows less heat soak than metal, it wont handle the boost like a metal manifold. The 2.4 uses VVT and its making things difficult in terms of tuning

thats the way GM does it... they use every bit of space available (anyone remember, oh, the 427 stingray corvette, ya almost have to take the fenders off to change the plugs)

Lookin good bro... good luck with the turbo (i think GM let a lot of people down with the S/C SS)

There actually wont even be a Cobalt SS or SS/SC in 2008. Rumored that they're taking some time off and possibly going to turbo

TRUTH

When the cobalt body is changed in late 09-early 10 the SS with have a turbo... mainly Because by then GM will have bought out (Probly by foreign manufacture) and their Technology for Sporty Compacts will have skyrocketed

You know how on Most/all Scions or Lexus cars, how the windows say Toyota on them? Its going to be pretty good when you see a Corvette, or Silverado, with Toyota Lettering etched on the glass.

Anyways, the turbo Cobalt rumor, has been running around pretty much since the beginning of the cobalt. It probably will happen, I mean the Solstice/Skys are already running the turbocharged 2.0, and those cars are pretty fast.

They need a RWD Turbo Cobalt SS (build it off the Solstice platform), sell it for about $23-$25, and then we would welcome our American Sport Compact overlords.
