More FT Rumors - Sold as a Scion?
With that front end, it really should come out with a 20k price tag, Its really a disgrace because the toyota concepts that were floating around auto shows were sick, turbo flat 4 and rwd on top of that, if this thing IS rwd its going to be NA and slow fo sho!!
IMO the toyota concept had some very nice lines to it, and the headlight scheme looked great, same with the rear valance!
scion is cool and all, it just sucks that toyota wont put a car out there to compete with nissan. toyotas last cars that held there own was the MR2 turbo, turbo alltac, supra of course.
WTF happened !

I almost bought a 1991 Turbo MR2 back in 2004 w/131K on the odometer. I'm glad I didn't buy that car.. it would have been a sweet ride for a while, but I probably would have totaled it (since my driving style at the time was still a bit out-a-control).
if it truely is RWD, then yes I could see $23-25K. The initial $20K estimate, was obviously some kind of ploy by Toyota (marketing dept.) to get consumers yolked-up over , OHHHH - Snap, a RWD Toyota for like $20K (about $3K more then a tC) ... awesome. This rig looks slightly smaller then that Supra concept car that debuted about 2 years ago ( its like a next gen. Lexus sports car). Toyota isn't bringing over the Supra now due to the economy. Once the economy gets to the point where Toy. thinks they can squeeze $35-45K out of a consumer for a Supra (V6 or V
, then it will come over(2012 or 2013 model probably).
but not so!
I lost my erection with "flashy" ... wanna-be fast (under 200hp) a long time ago.
Efficency is where its at. If I could go all electric (or plug in hybrid) right now, I would. Good-bye.

Toyota tackles the problem with the upcoming FT-86 rear-wheel-drive sports coupe by going with a Subaru pancake engine -- the STI's 305-horsepower, 290 pound-foot version of the 2.5-liter turbo four, our source says. Earlier reports had the FT-86 launching with less-powerful Subaru engines. Toyota's development costs have ballooned, however, and the FT-86 is now seen as a mid-$20s car rather than a sub-$20,000 car.
Subaru's version of the 086A, as the project is known, is still scheduled for 2013 model year introduction and will likely be sold with all-wheel drive only, as part of its differentiation from the Toyota.
