Default Need Input for Yaris Use.

Here's the deal. My wife wrecked her Jeep Wrangler the other day and I'm thinking trading it in on a Yaris. She is a Firefighter and uses it for first responding. The plan will include ripping out the rear seat of the Yaris and building a box for her gear in the rear area and still have full use for 2 up front. It will only see small amounts of off roading (farm fields and tall grass).

Do you all think this would be a wise move? I'm thinking yes for several reasons.. Please share your thoughts. Thanks

1.better MPGs
2.Toyota vs. Chrysler vehicle
3 easier to maintain

PS. the Jeep is paid off and should be a wash in the switch to the Yaris 3 dr hatch.

The MPG and reliability are on the side of the Yaris--not sure about the off road or through the grass part. Why not a xB? Can you get a Yaris much cheaper than a xB?

Yes, she doesn't want to pay the extra couple grand for another box. A base Yaris 3 dr. is about 12.5k plus it comes in absolute red. That's almost exactly what we'll get for trade in on the Jeep after it gets repaired. I'm also thinking about raising it an inch with some xB springs.
