its american so maybe just a little cheaper than an import for mechanical work.
but then its a gm and that might gain you a relationship w your dealership or mechanic.

i just hope thats its not true for my wifes cobalt

this is just a preference tho
hope it helps
actually its austrailian... i guess you could classify it as american, but its actually made in aussi...

Evo's are notorious for being P.O.S. They are terrible. If it was between the GTO, or an STI that's a different story. Evo's are too ricey for my taste, and they are Mitsubishi's. What quality car has Mitsubishi ever made besides maybe the Montero???

Get the goat!

I know that the EVo has shady build quality but o4 onwrds has 60k bumper to bumper warranty.

I think the goat in black is winning though

^^ True but I always thought that was the stupid way to do things. It's like a friend of mine that bought a Supra with 600+ hp, and he thought he was the **** because he spent $20K+ on a car that was over 13 years old, and that had 250K+ miles on it. That car was in the shop every other weekend. P.O.S. Case in point it's nice to have a cool, desireable car that not many people have, or can afford, but it's also nice to be able to enjoy it!

GTO > EVO

I thought 05 gto's were the ones that had hoodscoops. And arent the ones with hoodscoops have the 400hp motors in them. You said it had hoodscoops therefor it should have the good motor, shouldnt it? I am no expert but correct me if i'm wrong.

Anyways with that being said i'd get the evo. Is it a RS since it doesnt have the wing or did someone take it off?

Its an 04 with an 05 hood on it

I am waiting til Jan and buying an 05 gto with the 400 hp motor instead of rushing out and buying a 04 with a smaller motor.

the reason for this decision is I want to buy a car that I REALLY want and not settle.
The evo was an RS with leccy windows added and felt really low end. sweet to drive but a one trick pony.
I prefer the leather and the two bucket seats in the back of the gto (no third seat in the middle looks so cool) and it has great build quality reviews as its a HOLDEN really and not a Pontiac apart from the badges.
The only evo i would have is a MR so i'll wait a while i guess
Thanks for your opinions

I am biased because I owned an EVO before and I loved it when I had it, but it is true about the high cost of maintenance. My brembo brake pads (under light to normal braking) needed to be replaced just after 6 months of owning my car (bought new Sept 2005), and it cost as much as $300 for just the rear pair, imagine how much more it would be for the front pair, which are considerably larger than the rears.

Insurance was actually pretty cheap, prolly had to do with my age (27) and no tickets or accidents over 5 years.

I don't recommend the EVO VIII RS, it is too hard to live daily life with.

But there's one thing the EVO doesnt do...lose. I went head to head with WRX STi and came up on top about 4/5 times, it's so fast it is truly sick

Not even a question. At a 30+ mph roll the gto will win any day against any 4cyl turbo. Those cars pull so well in any gear it wouldn't even need to drop a gear and it would be in another zip code before the evo/sti could spool up. My Dad has an 05 for a daily driver and it's not his new z06 but it will chirp the tires between 5th and 6th and you just can't put a price on that.

dude do you know anything about turbo 4 clys? my high 12 second srt4 destroyed many low to high 11 second cars from a roll. i vote gto i love them and i feel more likely to be taken care of due to more than likely a older person than to evo bought it

I would side with the Evo, but I'm sure the GTO would be more reliable in the long run.
