So who thinks this is as close as we are going to be seeing a new Supra...

Lexus IS F
Face-flattening acceleration is on tap with 416 hp and over 371 lb-ft of torque from the IS F's quad-cam aluminum 5.0-liter V8
Granted it is not a two door, but it's still stupid fast. I saw one the other day, and my wife had to drag me away from it. I still hope that Toyota pulls their heads from their rears and makes the Supra already.

and if they do make the supra again, lets hope they make it a proper sports car, i.e. all three pedals, gas, brake clutch, LSD, and if they put any electronic nannies on it like traction control, vehicle stability management and so on, you must be able to completely disengage them when you want to have some fun.
new Supra? it's not a Supra unless it has an straight six in it. three pedals? yeah right. welcome to the world of sissy shifters known as paddles. EVERY car is coming out with them. bet yer azz the new tC will have it. I wouldn;t be surprised. and for the record, paddle shifters do not equate into faster drivers. EVO MR in Japan vs. EVO with 5sp = EVO5sp wins at the track. funny

Yes the Supra has always had a strait 6, but for the record, the said prototypes were said to run a 5.0 in them...

Believe me I agree, I want to have full control of a car like that, and to do what I want, when I want. But some of the fastest ones have been autos.

Yeah, once you get into that ultra-high power range, it gets a little hard for most people to control all the power by themselves hence the auto. Plus, there are automated manuals that can outshift a human like no other. It makes them less fun though!
I mean c'mon, the new black series sl65 AMG only comes in a 5-speed auto because of the ridiculous torque hahahahaha.
As a past Supra owner and still enthusiast, I wanna cry to what they are doing to the tradition of the Supra. They are almost keeping nothing except for the name. Maybe I'll warm up to it if it ever does come out and actually get to experience it. Maybe I'm too much of a traditionalist (if that's a word) but I think they should carry over something more than the name.
I couldn't warm up to it. all these resureccted car names are way out or our wallets. that's my biggest gripe. all these cars are in the 80K+ range. you can buy a Civic Si sedan and build it up to be just as fun as new supercar for way less. I don't need an expensive car to show status. I just like them to be fun. now on to making my xD fun
Honestly, I don't think its the new Supra...
BUT, if you like the IS-F, youuuu have to check out what Five Axis did to it,...this is something I'd be proud to own...
