Pontiac Solstice
Beautiful car. Pontiac does have a bad reputation, certainly nowhere near as good as toyota. But dont listen to too much of the pontiac bashers on forums. Most of them have never actually driven one. And besides, you should form an oppinion based on personal experience. Im sure there are some people out there that love their kia rios and hyundai accents. If you like it, go for it. Looks like an awesome car for around 20K. But my advice, wait to buy a slightly used one. Pontiac has terrible resale, so maybe you can knock off a few grand that way.
they are actually going upscale, they are basically going to repackage vauxhalls and sell em here, which is welcomed in my book since we don't get any other great euro cars (other than the luxury brands), and they make some sick a$$ cars!
It's a little frusrating knowing that GM can get 17 more HP out of a 2.4L
If I'm not mistaken, I believe it'll have about 170 ft. lbs. of torque as well. That thing will MOVE with the small amount of weight it has!

the company started solely because it wanted to compete with japanese automakers back in the late 80s-90s when they first started. they offer no-haggle prices (like scion)
and also had (funky styling) back when they were introduced, and some of their smaller coupes and whatnot were actually fun to drive (this is personal exp. + auto critics). it is true they sort of faded in the last few years, but they're making a comeback, small steps at a time with their redlines, the VUE with the Honda Engine, and of course, probably their coolest car ever--the Sky.

The Sky/Solstice nearly weigh what the tC does!
For those of you thinking this is just a $20k car, it's really not. If you look at the feature list, the $19,995 car does NOT have air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry, power door locks, power windows, power mirrors, or antilock brakes (which some of you don't like anyway). I think it's cool they give the option to buy the car so cheap, but I can't see myself buying any car without air conditioning and power locks/windows. After adding things that are standard on most cars these days this car quickly becomes $25,000 without any fun accessories. Not to mention the convertible top is manual with no power option... which I guess saves on weight. I know Corvettes are also manual, but those are true sports cars.

Would I buy a Pontiac Solstice? Not the first year they are out. Patience. If they are great little roadsters, you'll have time to pick one up. Let's face it. GM needs these cars to rock. They are sinking fast and the Solstice is the only car they are producing that is creating any sort of hype. If the Solstice is a lemon, then GM may never recover from their slump.
