RSX Type S
Just wondered what you guys thought of the RSX-S. I've been bouncing around different forums to get an idea of what my next car will be and the RSX-S is one of them. It honestly comes down to getting a new tC, or a lightly used '05 or '06 RSX-S.
The only problem I'm having right now, is that now that the RSX has been discontinued by Acura, dealers that have lightly used ones are jacking up the prices, claiming they are "rare" and thinking people are willing to spend an arm and a leg for one.
Locally one dealership has two '06's and one '05 RSX-S, all with around 20K mileage and they want over $21K for em.
Another thing is that the insurance would be a lot higher on the RSX-S, than the tC. I read somewhere that the RSX-S insurance rates are right up there with the 350Z and Evo's because dumbass honda kids race them and wreck them all the time.
I've tried looking for private party sellers, but all the RSX's are beat on and riced out. I'm not looking to buy until the summer, but just doing as much research as I can right now.
Let me know what you guys think of the RSX-S. Oh and since I know someone is going to say it, NO I do not want a new Si, those things are fugly as hell, and it's a civic for crying out loud. No thx.

That is the car that i actually wanted but couldnt afford it back then... Drove my friend's type s like 7 times, i love the car.... insurance is higher...but no way you should pay 20k for them... a new one was like 24k i think...
Well if I get one, I'd have to leave it stock, because I'd have no money left for mods.
So really it comes down to a new tC with OEM ground effects, a drop, and some other mods or a stock RSX-S. Can't decide what I want more.
Oh and I could go for an older 02-04 RSX-S, but I'm looking to buy something with the least amount of miles/use as possible. Plus I love the look of the '05-'06 headlights and taillights, and they also come with bigger and better looking OEM wheels than the older
years. Oh and another thing I forgot that would add to the cost of the RSX-S is the fact that it only takes premium gas, which would suck my mods fund a lot quicker. I'm just trying to weigh the pros and cons of both cars.
Here is a pic of the headlight/taillight redesign on the '05 and '06 models, looks alot cleaner IMO.

RSX-S I drove one a couple times and love everything about it. Ended up with a tc because the dealers in my area pulled the "its a rare car" crap and wanted 2g over msrp for them. So I checked out the tcs after visiting this forum and haven't looked back (much).
RSXs have tranny issues, high insurance premiums, & they are now starting to become theft magnets because ricers want the k-series motors in their lighter eg/ek civics.
I like the 05-06 model but me personally wouldn't want to deal with another honda.

RSX-S? A fancy honda? Get a toyota. Get a Celie GTS. Way better look'n. RSX's are bubbley looking. The Celica GTS is a hair slower to 60, but faster to 100 than a RSX-S. In any type of race between the two it really comes down to the driver. Don't let anyone tell you any different.
Dealer prices on used GTS's run from $12000 to $18000 depending on the year. The oldest being the cheapest. Stay away from 2003's cause the engine rpm was limited lower and the GTS makes all its power in the high RPMs.
By the way, the RSX-S and Celica GTS both take premium gas but they also get better gas mileage than a tC. Pay more for a tank but go farther on it. *wink*

Type-S all the way. I absolutely loved mine! A joy to drive everytime you get in it! I currently have a 350hp/350tq LGT and still miss the RSX that was only slightly modded. Intake and a tune it put down 202whp. I paid 23K OTD for a brand new 05', and sold it for 18K two year later when my daughter was born. I have never driven a more fun to drive car. 8800rpm's is fun. The tranny was 10x's smoother than my subie. Go for it, you will not be disappointed.
