Default SL65 AMG...

one word....BORING. for 180,000 i would be ____ed. it looks just like the lesser SL but with bigger wheels and some badges. totally under whelmed me. MB needs to get there heads out of there ___ and either get serious about there sports car or just concentrate on making the rest of there cars better. it didn’t even sound good when the guy pulled away.

For that much money you could buy a Porsche GT3 and a well optioned Caymen S.

You obviously don't understand one of the major concepts behind BMW and Mercedes.

Well, you're complaining that it blends in with all the other SLs, when that's what BMW and Mercedes have been doing for all of their existence. Understated performance is the underlying theme in all of them, until recently. Ms and AMGs just blend in with the rest of the cars, unless you're someone that knows the car and can tell the difference.

i understand that just fine. but once your spending $180,000 don’t ya want everyone to know? Is that not the point of a sports car like this? Every review of MB "sports cars" say they are to heavy and to softly sprung. They are for retired dentists to get to the country club real fast. i have never been a fan of MB, they need to bring some style into there line up. everything looks so similar.

I'd rather drive my box than own a Mercedes. At least I have good reliability, and don't look like a yuppie while driving it.

Oh, and SL65 is going to be owned by young blonde trophy wives.

I was just checking out MB's reliability ratings in consumer reports....alot of black...no bueno.

No German car really has good reliability...well, Porsche is about it, but it's with select models, like other manufactures.

dont belive those stupid reliablity ratings. They make no sence. in the JD Power survey Scion was ranked very low while Toyota and Lexus where at the top...explain that to me?!?

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/?p=1592 - all about the JD Power BS
http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/?p=1719 - read this, its why CR is useless

JD power is about quality, and well, scion doesn't ahve the best quality out there. according to jd power, scions are average, not the best, not the worst.

My dads 99 S500 has 290 thousand something miles and the only thing that went bad was the A/C and damn was that expensive!!! Other than that nothing just maintance which me and my dad do to all are cars. Except my TC cause one of my friends changed his own oil and his motor got messed up so they voided his warranty cause he didnt have proof of changing the oil.
