Default tC vs bmw

hey guys i know you hate tC vs this tC smoked that topics but i got a quick qeustion. My friend has a 94 bmw 325i its a v6 and im going to be getting a tC this summer and was wondering if i would be able to beat him. he beats his up pretty bad, pretty tough on the the tranny and it has over 100000 miles on it. I was looking for specs like weight and hp and 0-60 or whatever. What do you guys think

How about, it does not matter because what good is beating a car that is a '94, beat up, and has over 100K miles?

And he could just as easily buy an LT1 camaro and stomp you.

The point being, it is a stock car, what is the point on "winning"? Modify your car and hit 11s on the drag strip, win autoX, or race a road course, then atleast you can say you know how to mod and drive.

those mid 90's 3 series bmw's are beaters, your brand new tc should barely edge his out

im not big into racing or moding engine wise, im more into the audio stuff and all i really want is a car that has good acceleration handling and breaking and the scion fits all those with a low price tag, my friend just talks his car up soo much and is really into the whole BMW thing and when i told him im getting a tc he laughed and sais he could smoke me so i just wanted to know if i would be able to take him

Default as a former bmw owner

I now own a tc, but have owned 3 bmw's . There is no comparison between these cars. BMW's are much better and I would say even faster. You may beat him off the line, but there is no way your going to overtake him. I'm not sure what engine is in his 94 , but it's probably 3.0 straight 6, which is one of the best engines produced. I had a 88 735i with a 3.5 straight 6 rated at 235hp. Once you get these cars up around red line they really take off. I love my tc and bought because of gas prices, but when I can afford another BMW the tc will be gone. I may be biased, but they do make one great car.

Here's the thing...you don't buy a tC for speed unless you are planning on dumping a lot of money into it. Remember, the car comes stock with 160hp. That isn't a lot of power to pull a 3,000 lb car. Granted, these cars move pretty good off the line, they aren't a race car by any means. If you are going to buy a tC just so you can beat your friend's BMW, you are either very stupid or very rich. If you want to beat your friend's car, buy a POS Civic and a turbo. Cheaper, you will be able to beat your friend, and that's one more Scion that can go to a deserving owner. Also, its pretty bad that you are talking about racing a car that you don't even own yet. Buy it, take it to the track, then see who wins.

a 94 325i has a 2.5 Inline 6, rated at about 170 hp. the BMW is a little heavier than the tC, but has more top end pulling power than the tC. I have an '88 325iS. With the Auto tranny in there i was pulling 17 second 1/4 mile times, but witha trap speed of about 96 mph. once i got a manual in it and an aluminum flywheel, im pulling mid 15's. even without the aluminum flywheel, that car pulls low 16's. and the same for the 94. bottom line, if its an auto, you might have a chance, otherwise you are toast...

i beat my friend in his 3 series. i dont know what year or exact model, its not the newest body style but the one b4 that. but there was no question i def beat him by like 2 car lengths. alots in the driver. i beat my friend in his tc and mine is stock. and he lost to that same bmw. and both of them claim to be good drivers.

my auto tC beat an auto 325xi, so i say if he has the 2.5L engine, you will beat him off the line, and in the top end

haha calm down guys, i think you misunderstood me, im buying a scion becuase ive owened toyots all my life, my family has three toyotas, 97 avalon, 03 highlander, 04 carolla, and my 94 camry. i was looking into a new cheap car casue im a college student and fell in love with the tc. my roomate has a bmw and when i told him that i was prob getting a scion and he laughed at me and told me its ____ and he could kill me off the line. i looked into it a big to see if a tc could beat a bmw but not surprisingly didnt find much, its all tc vs si, or tc vs tiburone. I know bmws are great cars, if i had the money id prob buy one, i really like my roommates one, but a 3 series is also like twice as expensive and insurance is prob higher. I was just curious, thanks for the responses

Off the line he would most likely beat you. Launches go as followed: AWD > RWD/MRD > FWD. But you should have a fighting chance as long as you're a somewhat decent driver.
