Trading in the tc for honda.
I didnt make this thread to argue which car is better to each his own and both have their advatages and disadvatages.
I saved up money for a turbo kit and suspension and then was told that i could get the si at below sticker price ( i know someone who works in a dealership). So why am I changing over? (to the much hated on this forums si) personal preference of always being obssesed with the rsx engine (not becuase its some monster just because I like it a lot) and since rsx is being dicontinued and the si comes with more stuff and cheaper I figured why not get the less luxurious si.
Everything I know about cars I learned from these forums pretty much, about turbos, tuning, suspension and so on. I like the si but hate the whole scene that comes with it so I hope I can still stay around here and people wont get all up in arms because I choose to go with my dream engine

Btw cant wait see how the si compares to the tc. I learned a lot of things on my tc, how to lunch, heel and toe and so on so the car will always be awesome to me plus the tourque motor will be greatly missed on daily drives.

Sorry that a turbo'd tc wont cut it for you.
If you don't mind me asking, even at below sticker, that Si wont even think about keeping up with a turbo'd tc....so I assume you have future plans with your Si other than keeping it stock at 190hp/130tq ?

ok i said i didnt want to make this an arguement thread beacause I truly enjoy both of the cars and bopth have their own advantages and disadvatages but saying the k20 isnt capable engine on power? I dont want to argue much but just want to say a friend of mine w a base rsx 2500 turbo kit is running 280whp and is upgrading to 315whp. A cai on an rsx type s adds close to 15 hp not an uncommon number. And with a turbo kit the type s' are running between 300-400 whp on stock blocks dd. Plenty of dynos of this on clubrsx.
I am not trying to say that the si is a supirior car to the tc I get just as fed up when on other forums people try to downplay the tc. But comeon honestly you cant seriously say that the si engine is a horrible engine.
btw show me a supercharger on a 4 cylinder engine that puts down above 300 hp numbers and thatll be impressive. Sc arent known to be monsters on 4 bangers the limit is low.

the K20 is an amazing engine. Overpirced though, but still amazing. Drop one of those in an EK hatch and that will be tons of fun. I've thought of doing tht but it would cost too much money and the EK is not a practical car and has not one bit of luxury haha.
Good choice to go Honda. They will always have better aftermarket support than us and all those engine swaps make me want to get in on the Honda Scene.
Ive driven in my friends SI and its a great car (overpriced,but great).Ull be happy with it, he really is. When i drive in a TC i feel cheap haha iono why, maybe cuz a TC is on every damn corner.

Anyways ill explain why i really wanted the engine. I love f1 races nascar and others while I dont bash I simply dont like. F1 cars use no methods of fi yet pull out close to a 1000 hp out of 250 lbs of tourque. How? High revving. Hp is a calculation of tourque and redline. And tourque can only be relative to displacement or ho wmuch air an engine can take. Thats why turbos add tourque.
There is basicly only two ways to get morehp out of a set displacement number. 1 Cram more air into the cylinder via w/e method sc or turbo making the engine pretty much a higher displacement engine without increasign the actual cubic inch. Second way is mechanical tunning. Via increasing redline to muplitply the tourque more over itself to get more hp. Btw a good exampleis dynos of cars where tourque and hp cross over at 5252 rpm revving higher then that will give you more hp then your tourque because tourque is getting multiplied more.
Our engines while capable in fi can not be reved high because of design. There is too many parts that just werent desgined for it the k20 is a diff story. K20 takes the f1 idea of revving high and applies it to street cars. Now if anyone knows race car engines make poor dd bad idle bad low rpm response and so on. Honda vtec comes in by manipulating the numbers down low to pretty much act as a low displacement car - 2.0 liter weak four banger. but ones it reaches where tourque and hp crosses over it becomes a more of a race engine where power is made.
And thats the main advatange of the tc over the si up until 6000 rpm the tc is much more powerfull due to displacement 2.4 liter. But when the tc stops at 6200 the si becomes a diff car and thats where all the power is at. Hence the six speed gear box to keep the revs above 6000 rpm for all the power when neeeded.
I like the engine personally i jus tlike the idea, everyone who thinks the si sucks you are ofcourse allowed your opinion we have a diff of opinion so noone will win an arguement of whats better becasue in reality nither is lets just leave it at that.

So please lets not argue about which car is better. Instead someone help me pick out a color!!! what color is the easierst to take care of so that it doenst scratch.chip easily?

kytc notice how i didnt say its impossible i said impressive why are you trying to get so defensive. Congrats on the sc more then 300hp really Iam happy for you and the numbers are indeed impressive for a sc. I just dont see why you are trying to prove to me that the si is a horrible car if you think so iam glad you didnt buy it then. Did i come on here trying to say the si was some kind of monster no I simple said out of personal preference i liked the engine more^read above if you are intersted as to what the personal preference is. Other then that lets just leave it at you hating the engine no use is arguing about it.
There is indeed a lot of tc around here not quiie as many as hondas but a lot. I dont think it makes a car cheap just that its a good choice. I was pretty impressed with the car when i got ot only had only problem which is that the intrior is all black, doenst make it look cheap but rather bland. I think if the seats were slightly diff and the floor mats the car would look a lot better. Just opinion though. other then that I loved my tc and still do got lots of complements for it.
Plus the tc looks more luxurious on the outside then the civic si and I was never ashamed to say I drive a tc I think it might be diff when I get the si never liked those fart can civic ricers and never wanted to be associated with them.,

wat i meant that there are alot more TC's than SI's out there. sure the TC came out first, but even if we were able to match howmany TC's came out in 2 years to that of the SI, the TC will fo sho Dominate in numbers.
