Ok so i have a scion tc auto, no engine mods, and my friend just bought an 03 celica gts turbo, now he's bragging bought how his is better and how it goes 160 and mine only goes 140, should i be stressin or is my tc just 100x better

 

tell ur friend to race me, that'll shut him up. Tell him my car only does 120, but ill walk him
I seriously doubt he has had his car to 160. Top speed doesnt mean anything unless he is into salt flats or Daytona.

don't forget this gts is an auto... so tha actually might be a good race or possiblyt evne the xa winning. Props for ur 14.0 ... not bad at all for a boosted xa

 

Your tC doesn't even do 140.

But otherwise, he'll walk you unless you've got some kind of trick, like the red turtle shell or lightning or something because stock for stock, a Celica GTS has a MUCH better power to weight ratio. If you want to beat him, yes you should be stressing, because you won't.

But other than that, yea, your car is way better. It's new, and a better value. Speed isn't everything because, you really don't race your way around your daily commute.

 

One thing you will find out about me as i make posts.... i don't just say things, i know things too. My roomate has a boosted GTS, spray, methanol injection, DR's , and it's a 6-speed, he's a good driver. I know what they run. I can beat an automatic GTS no problem, specifiaclly that guys buddy. I read between the lines... he is all hung up about top speed, which is rookie as heck. Odviously he has never been to the strip and he doesnt know his own car cause he bought it turbo'd. He is most likely on street tires and will wait for the green at the tree.

 

In conclusion about the topic, hit the strip, race, and find out

 

what year is your friends gts, cause i know the 93's turbo version were only in a 5spd, claiming 200hp/200tq.....i think only the new ones (2000 and above) are mated with a 6spd and rated only at 180hp/133tq......his friend has an older one (93), so its hard to compare one that could be ten years newer.....i guess the only way to tell is to run them heads up, and see what the outcome is....since you both are autos, you don't worry about shifting, etc....so it seems like a race to see who can push the gas pedal to the floor the fastest....

 

actually he said '03. I agree with blown_xa. Race him, while you may have less horsepower than him, (160 v 180) you do have more torque (163 v. 130) then again you do have more weight... it'll be an interesting race. Like I said, give it a shot... BUT do it legally and on a strip not on the streets. The raise in insurance cost is gonna be greater than the entrance fee.

 

i dont know why half the people in this thread are not just flat-out saying the tc will lose. a gt-s will already outpace a tc. a turbo gt-s will just do that faster.

also, this is pretty childish to start with.

 

while it may not matter to some, (I have an xB I know the only thing i'll beat is yugo) to others, it matters, we each have our own priorities. But while it may seem the turbo will be faster, there are things to take into consideration, (gear ratios, weight, torque, drivers ability, etc...) to determine if he can shut his friend up, which... in the end is what the whole thing is about.
