auto launches
ok last night i raced a guy, i won no big deal. but i would power brake( not spinning) and get up to like 2200 rpm then let off brake. then it would peel a little then bogg down then take off. i was wondering if there was anything i could do different or to do for my car.
I am not positive and need to look into this more but the "drive by wire" on these cars may be not allow the traditional "power brake" launches.
I know I can accelerate faster by rolling into a launch and then floor it. Otherwise the car can bog as mentioned.

This is my first 4 cylinder car so until I get more time in it racing I can only speculate for now.
1) Lack of low end torque could be the problem.
2) Have you tried just flooring the car and not brake torqueing?
3) Auto's are weird for sure. Sometimes you can get some great acceleration and shifting and other times they are a dog. There is no real consistancy. I am going to my local trans shop that did some good work on my last car and see if they have any mods to beef the trans up some but keep the price realistic for what this car is.

Hmmm? With the colder weather I can spin the tires much easier from a dead stop and the car doesn't bog but keeps pulling whether I do a WOT launch or brake torque.
Now do you drive your car aggresively otherwise? I am not sure if the Scion has a learning ECM and will adapt to your style of driving eventually.

i had been playing with it some more and it seems not to be as bad now. it wont bogg down as much as it did before. but still if anyone has any imput it would be greatly apprectiated.
I'm leaning more towards the computer learning your driving habits.
My TC was a little sluggish when I took it over from my wife but I tried a few different launches since my last post and I can spin the tires every time now. I am more of an aggressive driver on a daily basis.
Other than that I don't have any other explanation and some educated car friends suggested the computer learning also.
