best rpm to launch a tc
i just want to know the best rpm before launch my car to make a good 1/4mile run
what i did was, hold it at 2000rpm, let go the clutch and nearly full throttle at the same time,, drop the clutch nicely and 80% to full throttle.. cuz i don't wanna **** with my car. i didn't feel it's fast enough like what i did on test driving tc at dealers which i launched at 3k rpm before... the difference was when launch at 2k rpm the tire didn't spin, 3k was hear tire spinning noise.

2k is at the upper limit of a normal launch. Really, you should try for 1500, but with any car, always launch at the lowest RPMs at which it is possible.
Ideally I'd like to see myself launch at 800-1000, but I still haven't gotten to that point yet. However, I don't go higher than 1500 (except for a few accidental incidents
). Consider 1500 your upper limit and you should be fine
.
Just don't go over 2000, because then you're putting excess wear on the clutch.
Also, contrary to popular belief, the fastest way is not to do a crazy burnout at launch. You want to establish traction as soon as possible - which doesn't get accomplished with a high RPM clutch drop. That's why AWD can launch so well - no wheel spin, it just gets traction and goes (of course, there are those fools who try to spin the wheels and end up breaking axles or whatnot).
oh, and welcome to SL :D

I hear too many things.... and have seen many folks say 2000-2500. I have tried a little above 2000 and around 2000....... I may not try anything till I have to get new tires b/c 07 Turanza's are horid!!!
you noted right off the bat you wanted to know the best way to launch the car for racing, and racing will inherently put more wear on your car, especially your clutch if you do it the best way possible.
to get your 60' down to close to 2.00 on stock tires (which is based completely on your launch) you need to hover the revs at about 4k, and as soon as the last yellow hits, start feathering the clutch like you were taking off on a steep hill and hover the RPM's at about 4k until you get moving enough to give it more gas, then shift it into 2nd just before the rev-limiter kicks in (it'll bog the engine at shift otherwise)
clutch wear and drag racing go hand in hand.
