Default clutch issues possible?

ok so today taking my friend to work i decided to drive like a douchebag into the bestbuy parking lot, i was rounding a corner and i just dumped the gas and popped the clutch, the clutch came up like halfway and then it proceded to fall back to the floor and i smoked the tires...nicely i might add, but could this be a problem with the transmission or the clutch going bad....ive never seen it lock up like that before
