First 2009 AutoX Event Video
Our first event of the year was today at the Seneca Army Depot airstrip. Usually a great place and today we had an awesome course.
Unfortunately we had nothing but troubles with timing & scoring all day. In the first run group our finish light kept flaking out. Took about 15 min and a number of people to figure out that the batteries were bad in it. Got that working OK finally.
Then near the end of the second run group when the karts were starting we had start light problems. Grrr. So we don't normally have the timing lights too far away from each other but today we had them REALLY far away and had to couple some cables together. Well, apparently that was a dumb idea and was the issue with our starting lights.
We ended up using a shorting cable to our starting lights and have one person at the start line wave a flag as someone started - followed by a person at that relocated starting light tripping the sensor to start the run. This was a bit ghetto but did allow us to continue...
Only problem was the damage was already done and we only ended up with 4 runs and didn't even consider a second set of runs.
Luckily the day turned out nice, no rain, lots of sun, and a fast course. Only two cars in my class (ST) and I ended up easily winning (by nearly 6 seconds)... and so far I have only uploaded my best run video, so you can watch that via link below. I'll eventually get the other three together and put those up too... but here you go:

Oh ya, the video is with my GoPro Hero Wide attached to the front of my hood. I was going to try another mounting point for the afternoon runs.. but ya... didn't happen. Next time.
