Default Formula 1 racing (May 25, 2008)

So a new season of FIA racing and Ferrari is off on the wrong foot, and Fernando Alonso has changed teams to Renault. Plus, Hamilton is unbelievably a great young driver.

There's also been some rule changes. Traction control has been turned off and some other things...

I hope Kimi Raikkonen kicks **** this year, and that Toyota gives everyone a challenge to be reckoned with. Jarno Trulli placed 6th and Timo Glock came in at 9th during qualifying.

The Grand Prix of Australia starts at 12:30AM(March 16th) on the speed network.

Let's have some fun...

Should be interesting for sure. I'm surprised Alonso stayed w/McLaren only one year. Hamilton is definitely one to watch.

I've always been a David Coulthard fan, and even if he's past his prime I hope he does well. I also hope Raikkonen and Toyota do well. Toyota has just had a slow start in F1...

Don't have cable, so can't watch the race

No cable?

Hamilton is a deadly animal, and so dang young. He's like...what, 19 years old? Trulli just dropped out of the race, anf Raikkonen had trouble with the Hondas. This race is interesting.

And Lewis Hamilton takes the 1st round in Australia. An easy win.

A very Chaotic race. 10 or so drivers dropped out. Not one Ferrari finished the race(?). The Toyota racing team finished fairly well in 11th.

Nice....I looked it up, Hamilton was born January of '85, so he's 23. He's still REALLY good for how young he is.

Most of the DNFs crashes or mechanical failures??

Practice for the Malaysian Grad Prix just started. Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen took the top two spots. Nico Rosberg and Williams-Toyota took 4th with a time of 1:36:578.

Nico has started off on a good note so I I hope I does very well this weekend and take sthe win. It will be hard to beat those Ferraris though.

Qualifying will take place Saturday morning at 2:00AM. Yes real early.

What happened to Hamilton?? The last two races he didn't have podium finishes...

Ferrari and Raikkonen are doing awesome, and Heidfeld/BMW aren't doin to bad either.

Toyota isn't doing terrible. 5th place with 8 points.

It's still early in the season. Just give Mercedes a few more weeks and then they will be in Europe.

I hope Toyota kicks a lot of **** this year

Everyone that's racing has to watch out for Fernando Alonso, he has "home field" advantage there in Spain. I believed he won this Grand Prix last season, or at least finished on the podium. I won't be able to watch the practice tryouts Friday morning at 4:00am, but I should watch the qualifying Saturday morning. The race starts at 8:00am on Sunday morning. It will most likely be a great race if the weather holds up. I still have not checked the weather though.

Wasn't it in one of the last races last season where all heck broke loose because of the severe rain? I think it was in Japan. Right?

I just checked out the times for the practice this morning, and dang!! Felipe Massa got the second fastest time with only 9 laps in the first practice!!

But in the second practice, Massa dropped to 5th. While Kimi took top honors. What could we expect from the champ; huh? Both Renaults came in 2nd and 3rd(Alonso)!! Whaaaaa?? I have a feeling that Alonso will have a lot of fun this race.

Jarno Trulli got his butt kicked, along with Timo Glock. At least Jarno got a faster time then Heiki and the McLaren-Mercedes. Not too shabby.

There is one more practice tomorrow at 5:00am and I hope Toyota pulls out all of the stops. They have a great vehicle. They should start with less gasoline at the the beginning of the race, so they could get in the pits first. And lets pray that it doesn't rain, even if it does make it an interesting race. Safety is key to a great race!

Qualifying is also tomorrow at 8:00am. Go Toyota.

Sorry everyone, but I like to root for the underdog in F1!
