i cant beat anyone
if the formula I heard (1lb off the wheels = 20 off the car) then, 6lb off each corner would be like taking 480 lbs off the car. and I heard that one specific pulley (can't remember what kind) is like taking 100lb off the car, that means that with the light rims and pulley, it's like taking 580lb off the car, that does a lot for p/w ratio.
If I'm wrong about any of this please tell me, I would rather know the truth than sound like an idiot.

The removing of unsprung weight (anything that is below the suspension [that is an over simplification]) is more beneficial to performance than sprung weight. So getting wheels that are 6# lighter per corner is better than removing 24# from the interior. That said, the lower rotational mass is most important to the drive wheels.
Now, one pully that can simulate the removal of 100#? That's freakin' amazing. Maybe if you take out your accessory pulley and the AC compressor and all of the associated plumbing you'll lose 40#. You'll have to show me what you're talking about.
I don't know if the 1:20 formula is true (I'll look into that).

From another forum
So the 6# per corner actually equals about 240 lbs internally. This is more believable than the 480 #.
I'm still curious about this 100# pulley.

thank you for giving the right info on the wheel wieht formula... I think the Pulley I was looking at was a Perrin, poss an underdrive pully.
*The guy has a 55shot of N2O and a cold air intake.
103 + 55 = 158 + 6(you gave for CAI) = 164

The No2 shot make sense. While I'ma firm supporter of Perrin products, I'm having a hard time swallowng that crank pulley. They clearly make the claim on their site that the 1.3# pulley is equal to removing 100#! Now when will they do that for my tC!

Well I have a manager at my work that I got beat buy his 97 i believe s10 but then again this is a 63 year old crazy gear head that has no problem putting the car to the ultimate test. But needless to say he beat me, one of the downsides about having an auto in my opinion becuz if u don't get a good jump u will not win. But well my car is definately sexier looking than his. But all his cars he has can beat me and more than likely most of the forum members, 69 camaro with 454 bored 30 over, an old stingray corvette, a 67 camaro he is currently in the process of building i believe a 427, he also has a v8 gremlin that I really want to see run, and his has an old station wagon with a 454 in it, and in his other garage he has an old mercury hotroad, and a honda prelude that he says is in showroom quality that hardly gets used but he said is very subtle but yet breath taking. Now if only he knew something about the tuner cars I would get him to mess with my car.
1. You are driving a 3000+ lbs car with under 150hp at the wheels. Your power to weight ratio as you sit is total crap for racing.
2. High level dragracing used highly built automatic trans or manual trans that will cost thousands if not 10's of thousands. Your gears and shift points are not ment for racing but they are ment for comfortable crusing.
3. And this is the imprtant part. DRAGRACING ON THE STREET IS ILLEGAL IN EVERY STATE. If you can deal with hitting a minivan in the side at 100mph+ and killing 2-10 small children and the person driving the van, then you are more of a monster than I would ever care to meet.
