Interesting.

One thing I learned from 20 years in the cycling industry: Wheels AND tires make the biggest difference when you reduce weight.

As far as I understand it, the further outboard (radius, not width) the weight is, the more exponentially significant.

Titanium watterbottle bolts do squat, but light tires & wheels will accelerate better. On a machine with less than 1hp, that's even more significant!
