Thumbs up Props to a Scion

Well it has been years since I have been on these forums. I used to own a 2005 tc and I came across a great deal on a barely used SRT4 that I could not pass up. It was bone stock when I bought it and only minor bolt ons now and still stock turbo boosting 17 psi. Anyway, the other night I was on my way home from my g/fs school and I came across a tc on the highway. Noticed right away that he had a triple gauge pod on the apillar so I assumed he was boosted...and I was right. We pulled into an empty parking lot and he told me he was running the Turbonetics T3/T04 turbo kit at 7psi and asked to do a couple highway pulls so I agreed. We ran from 55mph up to 110-115mph about 4 different times. 55-80ish we were dead even but from 80+ he just pulled away. I was extremely impressed by that car. For that scion to be boosting less than half of what I was and basically walking away is incredible. Didnt even know that those cars were capable of that kind of power. I know us SRT guys get a bad rap for being d-bags and thinking our cars are unbeatable so I just wanted to give props to that car and admit defeat. The aftermarket support for the scion has grown so much in the last few years its almost unbelievable. I think the only company that offered forced induction for the tc other than TRD was ZPI and if I remember correctly the gains were mediocre at best. That was three years ago and now there are a bunch of turbo kits and it seems like these motors are taking all of the abuse. Now I am starting to second guess my decision on getting rid of my scion

I'm glad you got rid of tC because we certainly don't want another tool representing Scion on the next highway pull that leads to a car wrapped around a pole.....and/or killing someone in the process.

Maybe it was wise that you stayed away from these boards for a while!

115mph highway pull hahhahahahahah

If I lose, winner takes my car clean and clear. But if I win, I take the cash, *and* I take the respect!

Thats funny, just the other day I raced my buddies boosted TC and I was driving my girl friends SRT-4. He beat me till 80, when I pulled even with him but then he let off.

Srt-4 are nasty when you start messing with turbo swaps and upping the boost.

And The SRT guys have a bad rap because it mostly true lol Ive gone to a bunch of SRT meets over here and a lot of the guys think they are hot ____, but the same goes for a lot of EVO and STI owners lol

Props for not being an Dick

i think street racing is stupid and what not but love how everyone was quick to bash a guy to actually give props to a scion who drives a factory boosted car that as he said usually are d-bags(especially in my area; ) usually i tell srt4 guys to ____ off and get outta here with their turbo'd girls car but nice to see someone actually realize that scions have potential

The guy was actually very nice and polite but his actions were idiotic.
I respect the fact that he came on here for the sole purpose of giving props to a tC, since he was a past owner, but I'd be 20x more interested if this was done at their local track./thread

ps el oh el @ this being moved to Autosports & Technique.

I avoided SL for a long time because the talk turned to street racing all too often, & the moderators never did anything about it...

If you're going to go fast in a straight line (easy), go to a drag strip.

If you're a good driver, do an autocross or track event.

do NOT street race. YOU make an impression on other people about the rest of us.

(By the way, I believe I beat a modded SRT4 at the last SCCA autocross, and I drive a 103hp XA...)

I'm very happy the guy came here to be humble and speak respectfully...I think it could've been done without directly talking about street racing, but I understand the reasoning behind it.

However; I would like to make a complaint about having this thread moved to the AUTOSPORTS & TECHNIQUE section. Street racing is NOT an autosport and barely requires any appreciable (or respectable) technique. Having these threads moved to this section sully the name of those of us who respect and participate in legal racing whether it be drag, road course, autox, rallyx or whatever.

I just want to clarify a few things here.

1) (Speaking for myself) Street racing is stupid in ANY situation and ANY condition. No matter how safe you think you are - you are not. Ever. You're an idiot. Stop it.

2) Scionlife and the Moderators have no official position on Street Racing. If you want to do it, fine. Just don't expect praise and congratulations when you take down that V6 Mustang that rolls you on the highway. Expect a lock when the thread goes downhill like this one did.

3) While it is hardly considered an "autosport" this is likely still the best place for the thread. It is where many stupid threads go to die. Like this one will.

And that concludes our presentation. Hopefully you all learned something today.
