so i took the xb out to summit point...
this past tuesday BSR (www.bsr-inc.com) and summit point were nice enough to lend me use of the Jefferson circuit for a day of shooting a television pilot. The xb wasn't a feature in the show but i was taking it out as well because it's great to shoot out the back of for rolling shots (with the hatch open) and well it's a free track day with no other cars, so i felt like i had to.
now my box is stock with the exception of 1.25" spacers all the way around and 16" panasports wrapped in hankook ventus' and the little thing did alright after a few laps learning the track i flipped off traction control and she really took to the corners a lot nicer then, quicker turn in and instead of an agressive scrubbing plow she just gentley slid to the outside of the corners after apex. there was no fighting the car to turn with T/C off. now pulling onto the straights, well that's not the car's strong suit at all, i'd carry excellent speed out of turn 5 onto the back stretch (running counter-clockwise) but still only pick up 10-15mph, compared to the STi i was driving all morning picking up 35mph or so. but the car was a ton of fun to throw around on the track, very predictable at the limits and left me with a huge grin on my face. i can honestly say (and i have the crew as witnesses) that i had a bigger grin on my face after my first lap *at speed* in the box then i did in the STi.
(although that 105mph to 30mph braking zone at the end of the backstretch into a very late turn in muliple apex turn will wipe a smile off your face pretty quickly in a power car)
i'd like to thank summit point, bsr and agile auto for their support and help on tuesday, more info on the show will be available once we're through editting...
