Stock Quarter Mile Launch?
Hey everyone, I'm heading down to the track next week Tuesday and I was wondering what you guys have been launching at. This will be the first time I'll be doing this, so really, I thought that I could get some info before I head down there. I'm going with a group of friends and I'm supposed to race a Mazda3 (wagon). Both of us are pretty much completely stock, I have the TRD exhaust, but I doubt it'll do anything to help my times. So yeah, any help would be great.
Thanks
Thanks
I was launching at around 2700-3000. The track was extremely hot that night though and nobody was getting any traction. Around 2700 seemed to work the best for me. The best thing to do is to make a couple of practice runs when you get to the track and see which launch RPM's give you the best 60 foot time. Good luck.
I launch at around 3,000RPMs, sometimes slightly higher and then feather the clutch almost all the way through 1st gear.. I've hit several 2.2x 60' times on stock tires launching this way.
3000 is also where I launched on stock tires. just slowly let the clutch out and add in gas accordingly. The tires will light up if you do it too fast, they don't have the greatest grip available ;)

I typicially launch around 2500-2700. Although im not on the stock tires(and running on 18's) I find minimal wheel spin at this range for me while still having good launching power. Ive tried all types of ranges and for me anything 3k or more is way too much spinning. But really its all in how you control the clutch on the launch.

If your tires or the track is cold then you aren't going to get any traction..
Cold tires & a cold track = hard
Hot tires & a hot track = softer
Any car will launch better on a soft-warm surface then a solid-cold surface.
And the only reason people normally run better times at night is because the air temp is cooler.. That is the only reason.
