Who you are? where you run? And whats your set up?
Im Chris, Im a student at Colorado State Univeristy. I race with SCCA Solo, and have been toying around with some road racing too. I run with the Rocky Mountain Division in the Street Modified FWD class (SMF). I beat the crap out of my car, and it beats the hell out of me. This week Im prepping the car for a Divisional Event this weekend, its run like national events. The build is close to being finished, soon ill be swapping out my Ksports for the DG coils (can't wait) and this weekend I'm running Kumho V710 275/40/17 on Work 17x9, fits like a glove. If everything works out, Im hoping to place well in SMF this weekend.

I'm Tony Cambio, Scion Champion at Oakbrook Toyota-Scion in Westmont, IL
The car is a 2006 xA prepared for SCCA Street Touring autocross. Currently #2 in Chicago SCCA, which is my goal for 2010
Power Mods:
Injen RD CAI (not a big fan - would rather have a normal CAI like K&N, etc.)
Spectre open-ended filter with a stainless shield (I'm missing half my inner fenderwell...)
Strup Stainless & Ceramic header. A SHOWpiece. I feel bad that it's on the back of the motor...
Supertrapp tuneable muffler. I LOVE these. I can tune the muffler so I don't lose the lower end, or I can open it up without crawling under the car. It also gives an incredible sound for 1.5 liters.
Handling Mods:
Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires - 205-50-15 (actually an inch undersized, but that's what they offer & they WORK)
Enkei RPF-1 - 15x7 40 offset (I ordered 35 from Edge Racing & they sent 40. No wonder I needed rear spacers with 225 tires...)
Progress rear anti-sway bar (eventually to be replaced by a NASCAR-style bar for batter rotation)
Koni Sport Dampers(One of the best things I did for handling)
H&R Race coils (A hair stiffer than Eibach Sportlines)
Other Mods:
Schroth Rallye 4pt harness
Generic POS short-shifter

If you are really placing that well in Chicago you have definitely done a good job since then! Just happened to be I recognized the car and screen name. Sounds like you probably did go with the 01R's from that discussion. My 01R's are still probably at about 2/32nds or so, so I am hoping to get through a slightly careful test n tune and 4 more events this year at least. If so I will probably order some Star Specs at the end of the season. Will have to sweet talk some tire places over the phone to get me the latest date codes they can find ;)
Funny thing, I was just searching around doing some reading on different tire setups and came upon some of your earl posts on the SCCA forums regarding tire choices back in 2007

My driving has improved, and I have done some suspension work. I still have a bit to go before I can beat the Scooby 2.5RS. Maybe next year...
what is what i have been told. The back from what i have been told is only 60-80 pounds but the front are a good deal more. I want to go with a pair of kirkley ones when i can save up the money eventually
Wish I could substantially reduce weight, but then I would be out of ST and in need of power mods and R-comps
Plus, it is still my daily driver.
Be sure to get all the weight you want out of the car, then get it corner balanced again since you will have changed the corner weights in the process. And if you have adjustable endlinks, remember to disconnect one side while corner balancing so you can adjust out any preload in the bar.
I personally would move the stock battery to the back rather than going with a lighter one. Less weight is good, but if you think about it, the issue with our car is that it is nose heavy. Moving approx 1% of the cars weight off the front and adding it to the back will help that more than reducing the weight of the battery in the process.

I used to run my 05 RS1 in Philly's STS class back in 05-06 when all I had done was an intake and tires (RE-01Rs at that time) and I did a few track days with it at Watkins Glen and Pocono (East & North). I don't run the tC regularly anymore other than as a DD (I had a Miata for a while that was my track and CSP AXer, now I run a B-Mod in AX and participate in LeMons racing for my track fix) but I was an instructor at Pocono a few weeks back and had a free track day so I brought red out of retirement with some more upgrades:
17x7.5 Enkei NT03+M
225/45 Hankook RS3
Eibach Pro-Kit Springs
Koni Dampers (Yellows up front, Reds in the rear)
Hawk HPS* Pads (*HP+ up front for track events)
And, not that they make any real difference:
AEM CAI
DC Sports ABE
I had gotten used to running the Miata and being able to surprise many "faster" cars so I was expecting the tC to be pig on the track. With the front dampers at 7/10 stiff and a (fairly) agressive (for street alignment)(F-1.2*/R-.8* camber & F 3/32" /R zero toe out) the car handles remarkably well and was able to lap with Miatas and Corvettes without being a rolling chicane--I was passing as much as being passed (in the instructor's run group). When a set up C5 driven by an fellow instructor can't walk you through Pocono North infield it makes you feel pretty good about your glass-roofed tank.
Regarding tires:
The RT615s are crap by current standards (I was never much of a fan) but they were the first to enter the ST* market at a reasonable price so they had a huge following. The 615Ks are overpriced compared to other options. Most recently I opted for the RS3 based on the performance-to-dollar ratio and because we ran the RS2s on several of our LeMons cars and was impressed with them so I was hoping the RS3 improved on all of the RS2s characteristic . During the six 20+ minute sessions I ran in mid-July they never felt like they were giving up (I ran them at full tread depth and they had roughly 500 street miles on them before hitting the track). I had hot & dry, hot & wet and hot & semi-wet (wet track, standing water & completely dry sections all in one lap) track conditions through out the day. I was quite impressed with the way the RS3s handled all conditions.
I've run the B-stone RE-11, RE-01Rs and Toyo R1Rs on my Miata and the RE-11s were the best of these with the exception of in the wet, then the R1Rs won. Dunlop's StarSpec is also a stellar tire choice (though aren't they kinda spendy?). For a budget tire the Kumho XS is a front runner too (and they were the only other tire I was considering for the tC this time, but the RS3 are reported to have slightly better wet handling characteristics).

Just in case anyone is confused... STS became ST last year and what was STS2 (miata land) became STS ... Easy enough for me.. just chopped the S off the end of my class magnets :D
Star specs are pretty cheap actually. They get upwards of $130ish at times, but get lower as well. At $60 a pop less than the RE11's they are hard to pass up. Becoming more and more popular actually among the autoxrs, especially in our size and on a heavier fwd car. The R1R's are also very popular.
Heard from someone this weekend running the new 615k that they are pure disappointment (and WAY too expensive) and he liked the original 615 better. The original was a great street tire class choice in its day, but just got passed up by the others. Main issue with them is that they got greasy quick when they heated up.
I am a few events away from completing my second season on the RE-01R's (they will barely make it through the season... getting pretty worn at this point) and loved them. Obviously cant get them any longer so I will get the Star Specs.
I have actually gotten well into contention with the "spec" st car (90 civic si hatch of course) this year. I go back and forth with one of the drivers. It is co-driven by a father and son team. The dad usually pulls a few tenths (on a 1 minute course) on me during the last few runs and his son usually tends to pull another second out of his **** late in the day
But even then, being closer and closer to a car pretty much made for the class and weighing 800 lbs less than the tC is hard to complain about! On Sunday I finished 3rd behind those two and ahead of a co-driven 2.5RS and some others. So it does do a good job if set up and driven properly.

I traded in the xA & now have a 2007 tC
Currently the only mod (if you can call it that) is a TRD muff
The only stuff that should transfer over:
Shift ****...
Harness
Supertrapp (I think)
The goal within the next few weeks:
some used Dunlop Star Specs,
rear sway bar (probably Hotchkis)
some serious suspension. Haven't decided between Konis/Ground Control & DG Spec coilovers.
The tC is nice! I just need to sell all my xA go-fast stuff so I can get the tC where the xA was...
My name is Matt. SCCA Hawaii....Only made 2 runs....not to swell at it, but was dead stock during those runs (end of the day 'funs' or whatever.
Loved it.
Tires went from stock to the 912s (which are great to me....but im told there are WAY better tires out there.)
Tien SS-ps
DG Sway.
Cant wait to get home and run it again.
Planned mods (besides the 16k worth or turbo stuffs I got waiting for me back home)
WIDER TIRES and an LSD possibly...
