I can get a 200' roll of vinyl in whatever color I can think of for less than their sponsorship fee. And for barely any more, I can get the printable kind and have whatever I want in however many colors I can think of. Vinyl graphics has one of the biggest mark-ups in the automotive market.

The thing with this company is that they portray a situation in which they are going to sponsor you. But anyone who has been into tuning cars for a while knows that it's not a "full sponsorship" if you have to pay for it.

The way this thing works is...everyone gets a "full sponsorship" or what they say is over $500. It might be higher for some people. Say you get a $10K sponsorship from them. You get a $10K credit on goods. But you have to go through their pre-approved companies to actually use this credit. And then, you still have to pay like 52% of the price that they have listed, and the other 48% comes out of your credit pool. It's called a co-op sponsorship. In some cases, they will be great prices after you take away the 48% of the price...you might be saving $25 on some graphics or something like that. But anything else, you can probably find cheaper on ebay or some other online retailer. In fact, local shops could probably get better prices on most things that they offer.

And don't forget, you have to buy through their companies in order to apply these prices. You might be able to find a cheaper price on something but it won't matter.

All I've ever seen out of this is basically a half price, online shucks/pep boys/whatever local generic automotive shop is in your area. You can get cheap decals, light bulbs and racing pedals.

I'm not here to discourage people from doing what they want. It's your car and your money. But I feel that everyone needs to at least know what they are getting into before agreeing to anything. Nobody was around to tell me about it. So great, they got my $89. But it's helped me in the long term because now I am more aware of what I agree to.
Very well spoken... On the same note, carsponsorships.com is using the appeal of sponsorship to gain participation in a discount club. They have provided a deceptive way to wring customers. Which sounds better... discount club ($$$) or sponsorship (time)? While speaking to Athena @ carsponsorships.com she admits they don't have to tell everyone they automatically get the same initial sponsorships worth over $500. This thievery is just another slimy way to earn a buck. Even if you did want the Blaupunkt discount and free decals would you want to continue business with a company that "represents" you this way???

As far as the "value" of a full sponsorship @ $500, this is capitalism and you can assign virtually any value to a set of decals and presto... full sponsorship starts you in the hole $89. Fun, fun, fun. I love people.

I just got an email from them stating this....

"Hi David,

We are proud to inform you that Blaupunkt USA has selected you and your vehicle for an audio sponsorship! Blaupunkt USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch Corporation, is an international company offering the highest class of In-Car Entertainment components. In addition, Decalkits.com has picked you up for a full graphics sponsorship. You will find all the information you need to start receiving your products inside the contract below.
In addition to Blaupunkt and Decalkits, we have negotiated yet another sponsorship on your behalf and will email you within 2-3 days with the sponsorship information."

Can someone tell me if i should go through with this. Or is this a scam they are pulling on me?

You already spent the money to sign up. If you like Blaupunkt and want to run decal graphics then see what they give you. Does the contract say you will have to pay for the products?

Yeah, you already paid them.

You don't have to sign the contract if you don't want to. Look it over and if it's something that you want to do, then fill it out and send it back. It's your decision. I don't think it'll cost you any more money unless you decide you want to buy some of the other stuff.

If you do decide to go with it, make sure you find out VERY CLEARLY what Blaupunct is offering, how long you have to have their products/stickers, how much (if any) you have to pay for the equipment. Do the same with the decals as well. Also find out for sur ehow long the contract is, what happens if you break it, what are the causes for breaking it, etc. Just make sure you cover all the questions you can think of before signing it.

Your analogy of the 200' roll of vinyl for less than 90 bucks is stupid thats like saying you should pay someone for an exhaust because you can buy metal for cheaper most people dont know how to make themselves and this is called making a profit... everyone does it including toyota so I dont see your point.

I'm not telling the guy he should go out and make his own graphics. I happen to be able to make my own. The point is that vinyl is not as expensive as people think. He said it's quite a bit to get a full side graphic, which is the part I replied to. Most of the cost is in the labor, which granted it should be. It's not exactly easy to make sure it applys correctly. But it's still way over-priced in most cases. You know that side graphic that Scion charges $225 for? That's like a $15 or $20 piece of vinyl. Double or even triple that price for install and you're still at less than half of retail.

There is nothing wrong with making a profit. I just won't pay the markup on something I can do myself. I'm sure that whatever you do as a job, you know the retail value of something and the actual cost of it. So if you had access to actual cost of an item, would you still pay someone else's markup?

Well, any company that pays the advertising fee is allowed to post their advertising.... it is up to you to decide whether you should buy their product or not. I am moving this to the review area so others may find it in the future.

I actually decided to play guinnea pig for the club.
I got a few discounts from it, but it wasn't much better then deals you can get on eBay. Overall it's a ripoff.

yeah... that was my theory as well. $89 isn't a terrible amount to throw away, if I actually got anything out of it (Tsunami 0ga kit would have been great).

I was going to try it myself if some people had got anything at all.

Then I'll probably pass. I'm pretty setup on Audio, except for the wiring and getting it installed. I'm going to persue an audio sponsor on my own, but Blau doesn't play into my plans.

Thanks for the info.

For what it's worth, I didn't even get friggen decals... Was told I'd receive them when I receive the goods and then I need to send photos showing I'd displayed their decals in a visible place on my car...

For more info regarding MY experience...

I'm not sure where you get your windshield vinyls from , but I don't see how 3 stickers equals $200, or even $89 for that matter.
well if you look around it is usually quite a bit to get a full side graphic...ok so maybe it wasnt $200 but it was well over $89...as for the people saying that vinyls are useless and pointless they are very wrong...mine break up the solidness of the car very well and i have seen many many vehicles on this site that look great with vinyl and not custom paint...they can also be taken off and different ones put on...just in case i want something different...i didnt buy this car for racing...i bought it cause it is reliable and great on gas and LOOKS good...sorry that i am not up to par with you guys that have all kinds of money and can put fancy sound systems and custom wheels and custom paint on your rides...i do what i can and what i think looks good
As long as you are happy with your car, thats what matters. A lot of us here are in for either, full blown interor mods, are full blown performance. Sometimes both. So, to most of us stickers are absolutely pointless and ruin the car. (one or two small stickers are okay IMO, but thats just me) Point is, just have fun with your car and don't worry about what others think. Maybe if you posted some pictures people here would give you a little more respect.

waste of money. all they do is give you some discount. from what i've seen, it's close to the same price everyone else offers. no point of giving them 80 bucks for some stickers.
