So I just posted this and can't find it for some reason... So I'm posting it again.

What it feels like to be ripped off.

So as any of you that actually know me know last month I gave my 06 azure pearl back and got myself a lovely 2008 black sand pearl tC. When I got rid of my old tC I wasn’t really planning on buying another one so I posted an add on craigslist to sell most of my aftermarket parts. After hearing day in and day out about how people get ripped off on craigslist I do it anyway. I meet with a guy who tells me his name is Nathan Collins and he wants to buy my header. As a lot of you ALSO know Erik works at an auto shop in Puyallup. So we make an agreement with this guy to meet us at Erik’s shop one day at 6 and we would install the header for him. So the guy finally gets there, a little late, but there just the same and we do the install. While we are doing this he is asking about our other parts and Team Ascension (which Erik and I had been very involved in).
So it turns out that the guy wants to buy my wheels and tires ($1,500) my Tein S techs ($150) and my megan racing header ($300) and have us install all of them. He doesn’t have all of the money but since he has just joined Team Ascension he can’t be that bad of a guy right? And he seems like a really nice kid right? So why not help him out and he can make payments to us. This was not my smartest moment obviously because here I am writing up an “I got ripped off” Summary. After two weeks we decide to buy another tC and I call the kid and ask him if we can cancel the sale, I don’t need the stuff back right away I told him I didn’t even have the car yet so it was no big rush just please be careful not to ding up or curb my wheels. Hooray. If the guy was just so attached to the stuff he could have said so, instead he told me it was fine and we would do the swap after I took delivery of my tc. I picked my tC up last month and repeatedly called him and left messages every day and I emailed him at the email address he gave me and got no answer. I found his myspace page and decided to send him a message there, my first message he received, read, and ignored. I sent him another one because it still hadn’t occurred to me that I was being ripped off. It said “Hey if you have time to log on to myspace and read my messages you should have time to tell me what the h*ll is going on with my stuff I really need it back” or something like that. He responded with “My dad had a heart attack and I’m down in California sorry if that’s more important than your wheels” I felt like a jerk and emailed “hey dude that’s all you had to say, I am human your family will be in my prayers tonight, please let me know when you are back”
About 2 weeks later I still haven’t heard form him, I’ve called his house from time to time and left a few messages and sent a few emails but received no response so I assumed he was still in California. After two weeks though… I started getting a little nervous and starting to get the hint I sent MULTIPLE E-mails over the last week and called about 100 times (literally) figuring fine I’ll annoy him into telling me what’s going on. If he is still in California that’s fine I don’t need the stuff right now, its winter so who cares. I go to the address he gave me and nobody is there and it doesn’t look like the same place he has in his myspace pictures, so using our amazing super skills we find his real address and nobody is home there either. I get home and leave him a few more messages telling him hey if I don’t here from you I’m going to file a police report.
Here I am now after finding out the guy gave me a fake name, fake drivers license number, fake address, fake email address. Good thing he gave me a real phone number and I was able to find his myspace page which gave me all the picture evidence I need. I filed my police report yesterday and am in the process of working through the mountain of paperwork to file a civil case in hope of recouping some of my goods.
Things like this happen every day and I’m upset because I trusted a guy and thought he was a good person and Erik and I are already just scraping by. And I have a desperate feeling that I’ll never make up what I lost. For some reason in the back of my head I still have that hope for people and for this guy hoping that he has some logical explanation for all of this and it’s all one huge misunderstanding and he’ll give me back my stuff… Then I might feel bad for filing a police report and pressing charges. I’m going to attach a picture of the guy and of his car and PLEASE if ANY of you see him please beg him to call me, or you can just call me. He has a flint mica 2006 tC with 18” Black Voxx wheels with a chrome lip and team ascension stickers on his side windows with a few other stickers. He also has my stubby antenna  He lives in Olympia Washington and has family in Cali as well.

Thanks buddy! This sucks pretty bad, I just found out the guy has been telling OUR friends that we have known long before he came around that he paid us in full and we shook on it (because we'd just shake on a 2000 dollar sale... right after he** froze over) but we have the one email from him saying his dad is in the hospital and implying he will pay when he gets back. By saying he's paid us in full he is nailing his own coffin closed.

The police said they may have a difficault time getting charges to stick because to this point he has only "avoided payment" and "maybe he is still planning on paying you" but my saying he's paid it in full "he shows intent to never pay you which makes it theft and now we will be able to charge him"

So thanks Blatant-blue, you jerk.

 

you clearly have agood shot of his vehicle license plate and a photoof him havent the police been able to get him with that info???
this sucks hope you get this stuff back or the remainder of your money.

Did you have anything in writing Allie? I don't know how much can be done if it becomes a he said she said thing in the end.

idiot completely forgot about that I'm sure. yeah he paid me in full at time of install and was going to return them to me for kicks. See, the police don't seem to think so.

 

oh and I provided the police with about 20 some odd pages of printed out emails to prove attempt to collect and I have even MORE proof. They are feeling good about the case. Wish I could say the same.

 

bah never trust anyone. they all end up fu*in you over, everyone.

Try and help some dude in the scion community out, I even TOLD the S.O.B. ABOUT Scionlife, he signed up the next freaking week.

 

Update:
I just received my first call from him since the whole ordeal began and it lasted 19 seconds with him informing me he had just returned from the court house and I would be served with a restraining order tomorrow.

Reasons this is BS
1- No grounds whatsoever.
2- In the case of restraining orders you have the opportunity to go to court and present your side of the case.

Reasons this is good if it did happen
1- go ahead and tack on Slander to that civil case
2- I know he's alive and in the NW still

Police officer _____ is on his way to collect printed out copies of every attempt at contact and my phone records maybe they haven't processed warrant? Something to ask about.

This is so stupid and out of hand I'm freaking tired of it, all I want is my stuff back and for people to not believe some jerk.

I'm so upset right now I want to scream. grrrrrrr I really just want my freaking stuff back, is that so much to ask?

 

Oh and other reasons it's impossible,

kid doesn't know my full name... Just knows Allie... weird.

 

If hes going to the courthouse, that means he's on record. Also, if you have his phone number and home adress, as soon as you prove that he took your stuff, the cops will get it back for you. It sounds like you have a pretty good case against him.

Its hard to believe you try and help a guy out, and he just ends up screwing you

 

that sucks, hope you get your stuff back, you could probably black ball his paycheck for all of the court fees and everything

I wish that the other thread wasn't deleted,.. while I was in the middle of typing my reply to what blatant-blue said, it suddenly went poof!

Sorry to hear what happened Allie, just remember that karma's a b.itch and he'll get his.

He all said how there are two sides to the story and blah blah blah, and how people shouldn't pick a side,.. but he hasn't even posted his story or anything. What a dummy!
