I used a blow dryer. And to take off the residue, I used bug and tar remover.

Default To take the gum off the emblem...

Just work it off like, ahem, like you're rolling a boog. You know you did it as a kid.

Anyways, I'm replying to this for another reason. Many of you do this to paint the emblem. The best way to get paint off the emblem is to use the plastic modeler's trick of a good chemical soak.

Use a tuperware you don't want to keep, since there will be free-floating chrome in the bath.

put enough bleach in to cover the emblem by about a half inch. Throw the emblem in and weigh it down with something.

After the first night, change the bleach and maybe brush it off a bit, too. Soak it again overnight and you will be amazed how easy it is to brush the chrome plating off.

found an easier way of doing this on a warm day let the cars body get warm slide a credit card right down the the back side of the emblem pops right off!

I successfully took mine off last night using the fishing line method and a hair dryer to heat them up a bit beforehand. Then rubbed the gummy crap off, used bug and tar remover, and a good coat of wax. Nice and clean!

I got badges from carson toyota, they have been importing a little jdm stuff, front and rear ran me about 55 with shipping. I think they are legit, imagine getting bogus emblems from a toyota dealership! WWW.newscionparts.com

the heat gun (blow dryer worked for me)

They're legit. That's where I got my "T" emblem.

The only thing, though is that they order it from japan after you order it from them. But I think I might be thinking of the site that I ordered my "ist" emblem from. Only one way to find out.

it took longer for me to plug in the hair dryer and extension cord than to take off the rear 'xa' emblem. dryer and dental floss - mint flavored. i heated the emblem for about 2-3 minutes... pressing it every few secongs to see how soft the goo was getting. then i slid the floss and started flossing... applying pressure to the door rather than the emblem. most ofthe goo stuck with the emblem... the rest was still soft enough for me to just pull off. no goo left. i got a rag that had a bit of windex and just wipe away the litlle lines that were viwsible and that was that. thanks for everyone who contributed here - making my 3rd mod so much easier.

I did this last night and had good results, although most of my double sided tape came off on the door and I had a heck of a time peeling it all off. I used an adhesive remover from 3M and it seemed to work very well and didn't mar the paint at all.

One question I have is did anyone else see a hint of the xB logo still on the hatch after they took it off? It's not reall prevalent, especially after waxing, but you can see it if you look close enough. Of course, I look all the time because it bothers the heck out of me, but I'm just wondering if that's just a temporary discoloration from sun exposure or something else that will fade with time. The same thing didn't happen with the Scion logo.

Thanks for the write-up.

I used "Bug and Tar Remover." Just spray it on the leftover adhesive for about a minute or two, gets rid of every trace.

Same method I did as well to remove my tC badge. However I put the pressure on the emblem using the floss, so I had a lotta glue to remove from the hatch. but that Turle Wax Bug and Tar remover does work wonders. spray it on, use a rag to kinda push it around to cover up all of the glue and let it sit for maybe 15 or so minutes, wipe off, peel off the glue that comes loose easily, and repeat if needed!

I just finished taking my tC emblem off. The hairdryer/fishing line/bug and tar remover was an easy method. I wish everything was this easy.
