Man, when did this forum start? Sweet.

Nice LS. And the caddy's cool too. Looks like a 64 Coupe de Ville. I had a 63 hearse once but had nothing but problems with the Jetaway tranny.

Any more plans for the LS?

they make some mean kits for that car. . . have you looked into getting one? I've also seen a front end conversion to a 99. . . and since the rears of the 95 match the 99, it'd work, and nobody would be the wiser.
Am i the only one seeing a patern here?

Yes, they do make conversions. . . in fact someone has actually grafted the 99+ front end onto a '90 chassis. With money, anything can be done.

a buddy of mine has an 94 LS 400 with 2k on it .... haven't seen it in person yet but he tells me its in really good shape. He just replaced the starter and said that all it basically needs is new brakes. He is selling it for 800 bucks and was just wondering if I should buy it from him or not. This looks like a really good car to VIP out. 800 bucks should I go for it?

I assume you mean 200K. . . here is a check list. . . and also some common problems for first gens

1. Compression Check Engine?
2. Listen for loud clicks/clacks in suspension (it may need replacement, I think the ball joint or something, I forget).
2. Do the power seats work? It's a problem for first gens to lock in place. . .
3. Guage cluster still light up? This is an expensive fix.
4. Guages and needles accurate/working?
5. Climate Control Unit LCD working or unreadable (this is a smaller issue for the value of the car)
6. When was the alternator last replaced? It will probably need a new one. The power steering fluid often leaks onto the alternator.
7. Engine still responsive? It may need a tune up.
8. TIMING BELT! When was it replaced. This is a big, and expensive one.
9. Any water leaks?
10. Motor mounts/tranny mounts. Does the shifter shake at speed?

If most of those are problems you may end up spending $4k or so to get into perfect running condition. But the car never died on me. Ever. I was running into a dead end of maintainence on my '90. . . but all in all, they will last forever, assuming the needed maintainence is done. They are great VIP cars, and they are very well built. $800 is helluva deal. . . even for just a beater to thrash.
