Default 08 tC starting issue

The tC seems to have a random starting issue. Sometime when you go to start the car wether it's dead cold or warm the car will sometimes randomly not want to start. It will crank and crank, then finally fumble and little bit and fire up and run. The car has just under 17,000 miles.

Has anyone else had any of these issues? I have also noticed that the engine seems to be a little on the chattery side, especially when it's cold, it's really noticable.

Yeah, it's got plenty of cranking power, it's just the car doesn't fire sometimes without a struggle.

have you checked your spark plugs? run some injector cleaner? maybe you're starting is going bad?

If it's a firing issue it might be your plugs. Of course if that's the case you're going to want to find out what caused them to go bad so early in the first place.

I almost wonder if it's a crank sensor or something like that. Reason I say that is because it's just a random issue.

08 tc with 17k miles and persistant starting issues. have you tried calling your dealership and trying to get it fixed with that dealie you have called a warranty?

just take it there and have them test it out, they need to be able to diagnose it while having a non-start scenario.

kinda scared to take it to the dealer, they have done nothing but destroy the car everytime they've had it in. They have managed to rash all 4 wheels, popped out the rocker molding, crack the windshield........

what dealership do you use?

are you near newark scion world? i've met with tim hyden and doug when they've hosted autocrosses in delaware, they are some really cool guys. see if they can help you out.

if your dealership is a problem, give scion corporate a call and complain.

Newark scion worlds service department. Tim and Dave are cool as hell, the service department on the other hand, not so much. When they repaired the wheels, they painted them and now the paint is just flaking right off.

my 07 tc seems like it doesnt wanna start sometimes, regardless of whether its hot or cold out. I can turn it over to start and it sounds like its goin to, then its just like the car dies (like i've turned the car key off) then I try the second time and it always seems to crank right up-its been puzzling me too, just not sure what to do. I dont wanna take it to my dealership, them check it out, see "nothing" supposedly and charge me out the rear!
