Default 15000 miles check up~

Ok, i searched and i cant find the thread that had this information.

So i hit 15000 miles and the maintence light came on and so i call the scion dept, and he tells me that i need all these check up and the total cost is around $290, ok so i know this is all bull ____ cause half the stuff he told me i needed i can do myself, but i was wondering what i really needed to do?

I am going to have my oil changed, since i have one more free filter to get ^_^, although i take in my own oil, anyway i really need info fast since i need to go out today.

thanks

check your manual and do as much as you can on your own. that's what I always do.

He's right your manual has a schedule in it of what should be checked or replaced or have maintence on for specific mileage intervals. Mine isn't in the main manual its a seperate maintence booklet.

I just had my 15K service on my xB done by my Scion dealer today. The bill was $196, but less the free oil change was $166. Yours sounds way high to me.

I don't think there's much else that needs to be changed at 15K. Just make sure you didn't miss anything that your booklet said to inspect.

Mine charges 189 plus tax... a TOTAL rip off. I can perform all those checks in about 30 minutes (including the oil change). Check it yourself. It will not endanger your warranty.

Is there a need to turn off the light that is different from the normal way listed in the owners manual?

i just called my dealer to check how much they charge 15K sked mtnce. for scion TC...guess how much they want to charge me? 390 something the thing is he mentioned a lot of stuff included for that price like replacing the wiper insert, etc....so i tried another dealer...and wow :D for 52.95 ;) a lot cheaper and they'll only do things that's in the manual :D not some other additional crappy stuff which I can do myself...
