I own a 05 XA and I'm having problems with my 4th gear. 4th is fine when going from 3rd to 4th. When I go from 5th to 4th its really hard to get it to shift. Is anyone else having these problems? If so did the dealership fix it under warranty?

You may need to learn how to shift. Remember, the gears are |/|/|. To downshift to 4th gear from 5th, shift downward, toward the center... If you're in doubt, ask a friend who is knowledgeable in driving a manual transmission to try it out. If the problem still happens, take it to the dealer. I always have my mommie test my car

 

I have been driving manual transmission for 11 years now. Its all I ever owned. I know its not my shifting. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if the dealership took care of the problem.

 

Possibly a synchronization problem? The Scions have a pretty short throw.. so some gears are harder to shift... but it should get a little easier with time. Just a thought.

 

well i seem to have a problem with my m/t....my third gear likes to grind under 4000rpms and my fourth gear likes to grind occasionally...i know its not my shifting because all ive driven is m/t cars...i only have 1600 miles on the car so im going to wait and see if the problem still occurs, if so to the dealer it goes.
