Default Anyone got any tips on using touchup paint for chips?

Just like the post says, I have the touchup paint and I want to cover the chip before my first detail. This way I can make it look as seamless as possible. I want to know it any of you know how to cover the chip without making it look like I just set a goop of paint on the spot. Thanks for all input!

I've heard people say they dab at it with a tooth pic, makes it so that you can get it just right. However, in my experience, this only works if you have a singular color on your vehicle. Anythign with flake, gold, or multihue tints will turn out looking worse than if you left it alone, because the touch up paint *never* matches.

If done right, touch up paint can look just fine. It requires a process of: application, wet sand, polish, protect, so doing it right is beyond most people's ability levels for a DIY job.

Best results I've had ... Dab it heavy with touch up, makes ure you cover it well. Use masking tape and place it over the surface, do not push the tape into the ding, remove tape, let dry. If done right you just picked up all the excess paint leaving only what was in the chip, then just compound and wax. Not perfect, but dam near.

Hope it helps
