Default Bad ticking noise from engine, pls help

like 2 weeks ago i was driving down a street, and i drove by a car, (windows were open) and i heard the noise bounce off a car, i was like wtf is that ticking, the more my engine is revved the faster the ticking, its SOOOO horrible, i took it to the toyota dealership to have them find out what it is, they said thats the normal toyota engine ticking noise once they break in, like wtf its annoying as hell and i dont think its normal, any suggestions? its not a exhaust leak, one of my friend said it sounds like my lifters, but i dont know, thnx ~Justin

sounds like it is your lifters, don't go by the service writer. Tell them to have a tech come out and listen. :?

i havent experienced any ticking with my xB but when i had my old jetta, that thing ticked like a **** due to the lifters. running thicker oil helped a little, but never elimated it. But i dont think you should have a problem with a brand new car. i would take it back to dealership again and make sure somebody addresses it.

Leaking headers is another ticking noise that it may possibly be. If the exhaust manifold is cracked, you may have a ticking noise (Notorious on Jeep Wrangler 4.0L). I have no experience with the Scions though...this is just engine related noise that I wanted to share with you.

What's a lifter? The hydraulic jacks under the hood. Possible AEM CAI install issue?

i said it once and i'll quote it agian.... take it back.. if its making a noise like that and u've only had it this little time... ITS something YOU are paying for. dont let them shove you off on o its normal bull____... if the ____s normal how come no one else is having this problem... if the dealership doesn't handle it call toyota usa and tell them... these ppl wont jerk you around the tree.. toyota and mazda have are two of the best companies as far as customer satisfaction... ont he survey you get int he mail if its less than a perfect sale as in if the customer give less than a 10 on any of the questions these ppl get reemed over the phone. trust me... get it taken care of don't wait till ur sitting on the side of the freeway to get them to fix it take it back tell them u wont it fixed or u want a new one or u want u money back.

The ticking is most likely coming from the wheels/tires.

I took my stock hubcaps off and readjusted them a bit and it seemed to solve the problem
