So of course after i spent close to $20 on a bottle of Meguiars Wax this past week, the new issue of Consumer Reports comes out with ratings on car waxes.
Consumer Reports rated Black Magic Wet Shine Liquid Wax the best liquid wax on the market. The best part is that it only costs $7! It scored excellent in gloss, durability, cleaning, scratching/hazing and compatibility with plastic. It scored a good in regards to ease of use because they say it required extra buffing to make it look its best. Its overall score was an 84 out of 100 which is considered excellent.
The best spray on wax rated was the Eagle One Wax As-U-Dry. It scored a 54 out of 100 which is considered good. It was rated fair in gloss, poor in durability excellent in ease of use, poor in cleaning, excellent in scratching/hazing, and excellent in compatibility with plastic.
By the way, my near $20 bottle of Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax ranked #9 in the liquid wax category with a score of 67 out of 100. with a score of very good in gloss, good in regards to durability, very good in ease of use, excellent in cleaning, very good in scratching/hazing which is a concern for me considering all the complaints ive read about the tC's paint, and an excellent in plastic compatibility.
Has anyone used this Black Magic wax? Also if anyone is using another wax let me know and ill tell you where it scored. Thanks

I haven't received that issue yet and I subscribe.
I tried Turtle Wax Ice a couple of weeks ago and I was impressed by it's gloss. It's not really a wax, more of a synthetic polymer. Leaves a VERY smooth surface.

I put a coat of "Ice" on my XB about 2 weeks ago. Drove it over to the coast last Sunday 400 + miles. (Mountains, salt air) and came back in a downpour.
There's still some shine, but it has worn off somewhat. I'll probably apply it again when I wash it this weekend. If you're a fanatic about your car (do you dust it everytime you leave home?) it's worth it.
It's just not a hard shell like a wax. But the gloss is impressive.
In thr rain, the water doesn't "bead up" like a wax does.

Dunno if it's "the best", but Zaino Bros is some awesome stuff.
It's a two step process, but it goes on easy, buffs out really easy, and lasts extremely well...
My wife used it on her cruiser, and then hasn't done doodly with it for years, and the Zaino is still there, if a bit worn...
The downside is that it's expensive...

nxt tech wax should work fine. unless you are in shows, then you should be using something more professional. autopia.org could help you out with that.
