Default black pros and cons

2 out of 3 of my cars have been black. probably every car i get from here on our will be black as well, because i love the color. what i hate is, 5 min. after washing it you can already see the dust and everything on it . but boy it looks good for those first 5min. lol

california dust mop will take care of the dust that settles between a good wash/wax and the car show later that day....

Yep. I have a California Car Duster and I love it. I washed my Phantom Grey xA last week and it still looks great. We haven't had any rain since I washed it, BUT we are getting a super-heavy coating of pollen every day right now. I go over the car twice a day with the duster (takes about a minute) and it still looks perfect.
As far as black cars go; They look awesome when freshly washed and waxed, but like you said, they show every spec of pollen or dust. And if it rains even a little, they look like crap until you can wash it again. Plus, they get hot as hell in the Summer. I'd never own a black car if I lived down south. It's a trade off I guess.

Matt_A, you are 1000% correct. Beautiful, dust magnet, water spots, hot (in both meanings). The day after I waxed my box, pollen season started.

I've also noticed that you can see swirls in older black cars more clearly? It might just be me though. Not that my white car is much better, heh.

I always said I never want a black or white car - well, 1 out of 2 isn't horrible.

I love the look of a black vehicle but they are just too hot in the summer. I watched a show about it and tested it myself. Most other colors can reach about 140 - 160 degrees on a hot day. Black went up to 220 degrees. It's great if you need to cook something without a grill.

I had no idea black cars got hotter! (But then I don't own a car...yet - which is why Im here - to learn things!) What about "near black" or grey, or any other dark color? Is the black cherry hot too?

Generally the darker the color the hotter but most colors don't go above 160 from what I've seen. Black just takes it to a whole new level.

At least that's something I don't have to worry about 85% of the time. I work underground, so my interior is about 65 degrees when I head out for lunch.

my brother had a friend who worked in manufacturing and he told him that the black cars usually have the least imperfections in the body because black shows them so well.

i have a 45 hour old black sand pearl tC and i love it.

Well, I said something in this post earlier - then my white car got in an accident, and now it looks like my best choice is a black car! It'll look sweet though, once I get over having to clean it more hehe
