Default Brake pads question

I have a 2005 tc with 33k miles. From what I understand, it is better to just replace the front pads and only replace the rotors when they are worn (instead of resurfacing). How will I know when the rotors should be replaced? Should I replace the rear pads too? Also, my front pads are the axxis deluxe...are they good?

The rotors will look glazed and if you run you finger over it, from the inside to the outisde, and you can feel grooves, you might need new rotors. I would recommend resufacing the rotors when changing the pads.

if you don't resurface rotors you could develop rough uneven braking which will get worse and develop other problems and could become a safety concern. If you resurface too often you will wear them out quicker, every resurfacing makes them smaller and eventually they will be too small and need to be replaced. that's probably the logic behind the bad advice you got about never resrfacing them.

front pads generally wear out a lot faster than rear shoes. no need to replace them at the same time, you can do it for convenience if you want just know that you are probably wasting money.
