Default Brakes

supposedly, we xB owners are victim to expensive brake services...such as changin brake pads....i'd like to know is it essential that we buy these expensive ___ brake pads from the dealer? or is it cool if we just buy aftermarket shiznits as long as they are semi-metallic or something....i'd really like to know about this one cause that would make me angry if we have to go OEM

My XB doesnt have enough miles to need the brakes yet but i think you can use different pads. I think they sell some here on the site. Hope this helps

xBs and any Scion should not need any special brakes. They take the same style of pads as all the passenger cars do. The only special parts I can see them talking about is maybe anti-squeel spray or grease or something. Not really special parts but more shop supplies than anything.

Pads for most of these cars cost about $50, you could go with some aftermarket pad for the same price that might give you better bite. But keep in mind you will need your rotors resurfaced if you get new pads. That costs a decent amount.
