I am getting the TSB recommended upgrade to my A/C sometime Wednesday (11.10.04), or maybe Thursday. Anyway, has anyone had this done? Is it worth the time? I know it's a free deal, which is cool. But I am just curious if anyone had this done, and you know, if it's cooler now in their Box.
Mine is a '05 xB. I hear from the mechanic this is being done at the factory now. But mine just missed it. A thing the guy looked for on mine, to see if it had the new one, was some flaps. What the hell they are, I have no idea. Anyone?

Maybe it's me, maybe it's because it is not real hot here in SOUTH FLORIDA right now. Heck, it's only 76 today. I went back on Friday last week, and asked them to SHOW me the new parts, and they did. Like you mentioned, condensor and hoses and a bunch of other stuff was replaced.
It was free, but still. I am wondering still if it was worth it.
On a side note, I wonder if anyone knows how many tons the A/C is in the box? I know, for example, that in my nB, it's a five ton unit. That might explain why it gets to ICE in there.

Hello
So, I am at KING TOYOTA, getting a new classic shift ****. My brother is out in the Box, waiting for me.
The car is on, and the A/C is on. It's about 85 (warm for December here at the Beach).
I get back out to the car, and it's blowing hot air. This ticks me off, since it's a 'new' A/C.
I drive around to the service bay, and the dude takes a gauge set to it. Says that this one gauge (the red one, if that helps), is not suppose to be moving like it was. It was suppose to be steady at 200 (whatever that means). It was way above that.
So he lets some pressure out, and the gauge goes to 200 like it suppose to be. He tells me, that he has no idea why that happened.
He says, it's as if there was TOO much coolant in there. Since he was the guy who installed the A/C, this confused him even more. As in, it did not leave him with too much coolant.
Well, now the A/C is blowing REAL cool. It made a HUGE difference.
Of course, today it's only 75 out...but still.
Now, what I am curious about is: Is this normal, as in do you think it needs to be 'bled' after a few weeks?
I know when the condo A/C I had replaced (the unit on the roof), the guys had to come out here once, and let out the pressure...same deal. It was blowing hot air, and they released some pressure, and cool air flowed.
I know very little about A/C, well, enough to get me in trouble, but I am not that well versed in it...so any insight would be great.
