"Cheap" floormats
For being approx $200 a set for friggin floormats, I would expect better wear. Haven't had my car for even a month yet and the driver side floormat is exhibiting serious wear from movement between the gas and brake. What gives? I would expect this sort of wear after a year of heavy driving, not after 3-weeks.
I had the same problem with mine so I made new ones that will never wear out.
They are made of dimon plate. Sorry no pics yet but I wiil try to get some posted soon.
$92.00 in matteral and about 1 hour time and they look great. Everone asks where I got them and when I say I made them , they don't belive me.

However, that just replaces one lousy mat with another lousy mat. Anyone who reads this site before buying knows to avoid the stock mats.
I made the same mistake back in July, and made replacements out of dark grey ribbed carpet runner from Home Despot. It takes a bit of doing, but I have full coverae mats that don't let sand get underneath and are wearing decently.
There's an article somewhere in the tech section about it.

Excellent idea with the metal plate. Thanks. I'll see if I can get a new one under warranty, then try the metal plate trick.
How did you attach the diamond plate to the mat? Have any closer pictures? I'm thinking I may get a plain piece of aluminum and have a friend of mine machine slots of some sort into it to help with traction when I get in with wet shoes.
Luckily I didn't have to pay the $200 for the mats (came with the trunk mat). They offered them "free" as an incentive to get the extended warranty. Well...I wanted to get the extended warranty anyways, so it worked out well (for the most part).
It was really shocking to find that wear though. Just looking at the material it looks like pretty tough stuff. But upon closer inspection you can definately tell it is cheap crap. Ah well...live and learn. At least now when the mats totally fall apart a few years down the road I'll have a nice template to work with.

Ok i wont even get into the cheap floor mat sh*t! but lemme just say the carpet itself sucks....the thing is i lve the car but i hate how cheap they made it. and they did it just enough so that at first glance you cant tell, but buy the car and take it home and sh*t hits the fan...im kinda wondering now, what is the point of buying a car if you are constantly doing mods that arent that fun?? But He77 i still love the thing!!

The one thing that impresses me with the xB is the seat fabric. Now that stuff looks like it will last forever. Seems very tough.

I'm going to take it into the dealership. Scion corporate gave me a ring after I complained about them in my ownership survey. They said they were aware of a batch which had wear problems...so we shall see what happens.
