Default Check Engine light in '05 xA; how do I check the code?

Guys, I need some help. I have an '05 xA, automatic, 224xx miles. It's completely stock, no mods, and nothing other than the standard oil changes. On Saturday, the Check Engine light came on and stayed on. It's performing normally, no weird idling or stuff like that. I called the dealership and made an appointment for tomorrow morning at 8. If someone can tell me how to get the codes like people mention in other threads, I'd be eternally grateful. Any other insight on how to fix the problem without having to spend a few bucks on getting it serviced would be much appreciated. :-(

Do I have to take it to the dealership? Should I even be driving it with the light on? I'm a bit of a technical newbie, so please accept my apologies if I sound like a total n00b. :-(

Here's a (long) list of the codes, the ling is you're going to need something to read the codes, such as:

ScanGuage

Codes

When was the last time you did an oil change and did you do it yourself or take it somewhere other than the dealer? If so, then you probably just need to reset the light.

That should be it.
