Default wash by hand or pay ?

Like most everbody on this site I love my car.My question is how many people believe in washing their car by hand ,and how many people are to lazy and pay to have it washed for them ?
I wash mine by hand because I like to take pride in the way it looks

I've had my TC for almost 10 months now and I only have taken it to a 100% hand car wash twice. I like to personally wash my own car so I know it is throughly clean.

There's no better care for your car than the one that comes from your own two hands. If you can help it NEVER EVER trust your car in the hands of a stranger, or even "friends" sometimes.

My whole thing is that I don't want little scratches all over my car. I know the paint is really thin on our cars so, I haven't hand washed my car ever in the almost 2 years Ive had it. I always use touchless. I have noticed that it doesn't get as clean as hand washing though. Does anyone have a way to hand wash and guarantee no scratches?

Use a super soft cleaning brush and plenty of soap. Keep the car polished and waxed and the tiny scratches should fill themselves out. Try using some sort of sealant also...that works well.

Thanks for the advice. What is sealant and what does it do?

Yeah I think Im going to get that because then you don't have to rub a towel over your car to dry. It will reduce the chance of scratches.

Mr. Clean is great for people with everyday vehicles. For me, I tried it and it left a funky residue that needed to be Clayed off. There is nothing wrong with drying your vehicle. Plus most of the time, stuff doesn't get washed off the first time. It can be removed during the drying process. Plus you get a nice up close picture of your paint condition while drying it.

My routine is. Wash with carwash soap and water in a bucket. I use a real soft brush with a handle. Work my way down and rinsing as I go. Only in the shade of the house. (Not under a tree) Then use the water blade to romove 85% of the water. Then dry with a pre-dampened micro fiber towel for a spot/dirt free vehicle.

yeah, after using the Mr. Clean garbage, I'm never going to use it ever again. Even with a water conditioner in the house and doing everything as recommended, I had some MASSIVE waterspots. There were even spots on the glass that I couldn't get out without clay.

Screw that stuff.

Try using detailer spray to get off those water spots.

That's strange, usually after I'm done washing and drying, I use detailer spray to get rid of some small water makrs that I missed wen I was drying, works well for me.

the first time my car was washed, was at the dealer, with the horrible big rotating cloth machines.

since then i have only gone to the touchless lazer wash station 2 times, because it's super expensive and it doesn't even do that good of a job.

i always wash my car myself.

one time they were having a fundraiser for cheerleaders or something at a local gas station. the jailbait was yelling at me that i should get my car washed by them. i yelled back "do you use microfiber wash mits and waffleweave drying towels?"....she looked at me and said, "whats waffle?"

i got a good laugh. i would never trust a hottie with a bone sponge on my car

As far as the "wash in shade" part goes, how much will that effect it. I can never get a really good shade area infront of my house when i wash. The tree infront of my house has a pretty big area covered over my driveway and i just wash under that most of the time, is that good enuf? i mean, i'm not doing it to a show-car condition, but i'd like to keep it nice and clean.

Exactly right!!! Our paint is crap period. It doesn't need any help in getting scratched at an automatic car wash.
