CHEVRON GAS
If you are looking for a better increase in gas mileage than you already have for your car, use CHEVRON GAS. The techron chemical it has in it is great for cleaning engine internals and I got 16 more miles to my tank and that's driving fast and slow!!!!
I just never use it b/c it messed my truck up. I put in one tank of shell and it made it buck and sputter and i just syphoned it all out.......it was too much bucking for me.
Never heard of 76, Mobil is usually higher in my area and is comparable to Exxon...........Chevron and Texaco are the only ones with Techron. Helps burn the fuel evenly and more efficiently by cleaning the cylinders out better than most fuel cleaners.
Oh, Exxon has been know to add "oxygen" to it's gas, but in the form of water. It fills your tank faster at fill ups, the oxygen is pulled from the water but not before it can oxidize the inside of your tank. Not a good thing.
Chevron is the 'original' "Top Tier" gas, as recommended by Toyota for all their vehicles.
Chevron now owns Texaco.
If Chevron is available, that's what my Scions get, if not, I try to stick to a "Top Tier" gas. If no Top Tier gas is available, I try to get the best I can locally, and ADD Techron (available at many places as an additive) if it is going to be more than just one or two tanks...
(I've never had a problem with Chevron - their QC appears excellent - and I have had problems with many other brands over the years.

Well, while I have no reason to complain about Chevron gas, their pumps always give me more trouble compared to other pumps... while the Chevron will engage and begin pumping fine, it'll often cut off prematurely.
But to be fair to Chevron last time I filled up I had no trouble...

Are Chevron stations only located in the Southern States? Ive never seen one here in IL, so I usually always get Shell or BP. Ive heard that they use special detergents to clean also. Does anyone know if they use the same detergents Chevron uses?
No, they are different. Shell has that V-power stuff and i'm not sure if BP has anything at all. It used to be Amaco and I think they just changed the ownership. Techron is what Chevron and Texaco use. It seems to be a little better for engines as compared to the V-power. At least, in my case it is. Shell messed my truck up and I ended up syphoning my whole tank out after a few miles.
I'm not.
Oh, Chevron should be around the U.S. and not just in the Southern areas. It's here in MD so I guess you can consider it North. But yeah, I've mainly seen them in the southern areas.
