for the most part GAS is GAS... here in phoenix we have only TWO pipes that bring in ALL the gas. One from Cali and one from Tucson. A few years ago the Tucson one broke (main one) and the city ran out of gas... it was a mess and there where lines everywhere…

All the gas for phx runs to one "tank farm" where the different brands take it (same gas for everyone) and then they add their own additives. Additives are helpful, but you could probably add a thing of injector cleaner once/twice a year and get the same effect.

Just my $.02 for what it's worth.

Well, you have the choice between getting a Chevron card, where you'd only get discounts on Chevron's gas, which isn't always the best, cheapest, or nearest.... or you could get another gas card (like I did with Discover), and get 5% back on most gas purchases, meaning you're not just tied down to Chevron.

Which one will you choose? I know what I chose ;)
Actually I find it a feature that it locks me down to Chevron only. Not only is it marked differently on your credit report (gas card instead of credit card), it also prevents it from being used on non-gas related items.

British Petroleum all the way here. No Chevrons around. It has the best efficiency i can find. Good quality, and good mileage. Sunoco is actually my favorite in terms of quality but they put a lot of ethanol in it so it kills your mileage.

I liked Chevron so much that I even got their credit card. My grandfather turned me on to Chevron when I first started to drive. After a few months of paying a little extra for chevron I went with saving money for a couple of years by putting in hess and shell. I noticed a big differance in chevron but when I was 16-18 I drove a 1983 Grand Marquis and it really didn't call for anything nicer or better. Man I loved that car.

Apparently BP has their own card which is giving 10% back... for the first 60 days, anyways. After that its 5%.

I just got my Discover gas rewards card (5%) a few weeks ago, so I kind of want to get the BP card, since I pump there usually anyways, but I don't want to risk taking a hit to my credit by applying for multiple credit cards in a relatively short period of time.

It varies by region, Jason, but in my area, ARCO has an absolutely horrible rep, and I agree from personal experience.

Regardless of that, though, ARCO is NOT on the recommended fuels list from Scion/Toyota.

(I would NOT use it in my vehicle unless there were NO other choices. In a rental? Sure!) :D

I see they sell Techron 12oz treatment for every 3k miles. Could someone put in like 2oz of this with every tank to make it "Chevron" gas? No Chevron is near me.

don't worry, Chevron gas isn't worth that much that you need to try to turn your current gasoline into Chevron gas. Just pump what is near you and doesn't give you problems.

Do you have a BP near you? They're pretty all right most of the time.
