Default Cleaning bugs

So, I spent about four and a half hours today washing and waxing the car to a beautiful, luxurious shine. However, this weekend, as I do every weekend, I will be taking a long trip on the freeway, which of course means bugs.

I've read a lot about how to clean bugs off in this forum, but they usually (if not all) are all processes that should be followed up with and immediate re-wash and wax of the car, since using WD-40 or degreaser or bug stuff or olive oil or whatever else has been suggested will eat through your wax and cause you to have to re-wax it if you don't want the blazing Florida sun to destroy your sizzling crimson mica paint.

So, what I want to know is how do you guys that take frequent freeway trips get bugs off for the time being so the bug guts don't eat into your clearcoat, yet not so much that you have to spend another four and a half hours re-washing and waxing your car?

Thanks

you could use a bra or even masking tape. When u peel the tape off you will need to use some quick detail but you will be bug free.

Most guys up here put that blue painters tape on the front of the cars and on the mirrors. Looks kinda silly but is effective against those nasty bugs...

Thanks, yeah that does seem to look kind of silly. Both of those are more like preventative though - no way to do it as an after the fact? (i.e. getting bugs off rather than keeping them off)

You could buy a clear overlay to put on the front of ur car, which will make bit easier to clean rather than using harsh abrasives and messin up ur wax job.
