DIY Oil Changes and Warranty Coverage
how should I document DIY oil changes to maintain warranty? I have 7yr/100,000 mile. Will a simple log book work? do I need receipts? am I being paranoid?
thanks for any advice

1) SAVE RECIEPTS!!!!
Very important. I would recommend buying just 4 quarts of oil each time. You now have a dated reciept.
2) SAME GOES W/ THE FILTER!!
I got a case of 'em from the dealer and am saving my invoice. It might be wiser to buy the oil and single filter every 3 months or so.
3) READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL!!
DIY is explained in it.

Keep receipts.
Keep a log.
Plenty of people do this. They can't tell you that you have to use a dealer, or a mechanic - half of the people in the US do these things themselves.
If you have an issue - they'd have to prove YOU wrong, and if you're doing it and doing it correctly, you're fine.
One last thing. Get a load of new crush-washers too for the drain plug. Cheap insurance, and nobody who does things right skips that step.

I had a friend teach me how to change my oil yesterday. Not hard to do at all...i would have done it myself if i could have found how to do it in my manual...but i couldn't find it in the owners manual..all i found was what oil to use. So,
Whate page is this on?

Good to learn AND to ask, but you can't be that lazy

no i'm being serious. I read the manual and all i found was what oil type to use. I went, bought the oil and oil filter, and changed the oil. just saying, i didn't see where it was. just curious
