Default dust right after a wax

ive always had this problem. it seems like it gets a static charge from the buffing and attracts dust – which is f**king frustrating to see, 5 minutes after your arms fell off from buffing. a buddy i ran into at autozone said there was some kind of solution to this but he didnt what it was called nor describe it in full. does anyone know what it is, or what else i can do to avoid the frkn dust?

i tried searching for a while and couldnt find anything. if there is a previous thread, please show me. ive had enough of this crap

California Car Duster

http://calcarduster.com/

I was skeptical of them until I tried one. I got one at Costco that came with a mini one that I use on the engine compartment.

Lmao...I hate costco. I work for a Costco Depot.

But yeah, California Car Duster works. Wal-mart had them on sale a few months back and I picked up the last one. My neighbors have 3 kids that come and go from their house all the time and we share a gravel driveway so dust is everywhere. The only thing that sucks is morning dew, if you get dew all over your car the dust will stick and it wont work as well.

Well, their return policy is so good, I was willing to take the risk of buying it and I'm glad I did.

i buff out with microfiber and ive tried megs, turtle wax, and eagle one so far. same ****, different smell.

there is supposed to be something that grounds the car... touches the ground and releases the static energy. that sounds ridiculous but if its real i want it

for now ill get the car duster but theres got to be another solution

A synthetic sealant will *usually* attract less dust than a carnauba based wax. A good duster (be careful with them) or a microfiber towel and some quick detail spray should get rid of it.

Duster is for just that .. removing dust. Not cleaning or washing.

Detailter is for just that .. when you want a nice looking car a day or 2 after a good washing.

Washing is for just that ... removing dirt and grime that you accumulate while driving.

If you have a car and leave it in a garage for all its life, then you theoritically could just hit it with a duster every couple of days and wash it a couple times a year.

If you leave it in the garage it's whole life, why would you ever need to wash it?

Because the air you breath isnt clean. And depending on where you live you also have to deal with humidity issues. If i had an old muscle car that just sat in the garage ( which would defeat the purpose of having said muscle car ) and i didnt have a cover for it i would prably wash it every 3 or 4 months. Just to keep it clean. With a cover, i would wash it at least once a year.

Detailer's Grounding Kit.

Cut the ends off of some old wire; I used an old phone charger. Strip an inch or so off the two ends. Now take one end and attach it to the ground, take the other end and attach it to some bare metal on the car; I usually use either a lug nut or the exhaust header cover.

I guarantee it'll significantly lessen the amount of dust your car will accumulate in the agonizing moments after you wax your car, or your money back. I swear.

The idea is really simple... Since you're wiping a towel across a metal surface that sits on top of four insulators, you're stripping electrons off the car that can't be replenished by the ground. If you make a bridge for electrons to bypass the tires, your car will keep a neutral charge (except for the bumpers... those you'll have to ground individually) and dust won't be attracted to your car. Any dust your car accumulates will be through gravity, no bonding.

Or you could just periodically touch the car with your finger and touch your toe to the ground which will ground the car all the same, but my wire keeps the car constantly grounded during my hours long detail.
