Default ebay purchase issue...need advice

I bought redline mt-90 transmission lubricant from a guy on ebay who was apparently making a business out of it. This was about 4 months ago, and I had it put in when I got it. I now get an e-mail from ebay saying that the guy was committing fraud and they stopped his account, but they can't tell me anything more than that. I can't file a claim b/c it's too late and the seller hasn't responded to my e-mails where I asked him - is the stuff that I got the real deal and moreover, not harmful to my car. I can't get any info from ebay nor from the seller, what would you guys do? Buy some mt-90 from the store and replace it? or take the philosophy, if I haven't had any problems by now (4 months later), it should be ok?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

His account may have been canceled due to something else he sold/did but it sounds to me like he isn't a trustworthy kind of guy. I would think about having someone look at it who you can trust and see what they say.

unfortunately, its like $10 per bottle and if I recall correctly, you need 3. so its $30 and then I have to have the mechanic put it in. So i'd say like $50. But i agree with you guys that its not worth ruining the car over...if only I knew

Yea, I mean the oil was still sealed when I got it - but I don't know if he has the capability of bootlegging it or anything along those lines! You think that my local mechanic (who I trust) would be able to tell if its good quality or not though?

Must have been 3 because the car can't hold more then that. The book says 2.5qts. Jeze - i dont know what to tell you. Chances are the guy had issues selling other products ...not the fluid (unless thats all he sold).

Assume it's not the "real deal" and change your oil & filter NOW!

I emailed ebay, the seller, and even redline in case they had any info about this guy and NOTHING. I mean, when you think about it, what could fraud really be?...probably an imitation product.

When I think about it, I didn't notice a very big difference when switching from conventional oil to this "redline mt-90". I guess I could swap it out for new mtl, its just a pain in the butt and an additional $50 that i'll never see again. but yea, I know, i know, its worth it to save the tranny!

What do you mean? I paid and they sent me the tranny oil. Whether it was genuine is what seems to be the issue...but I guess that there is no way of knowing...therefore swap it out huh?

i was saying that he might have been taking money from other ebay people and not giving them a product. In your situation I guess I would swap it ....do you know what kind of rating he had before you got the product? .... were people leaving negative comments?
