Gas Saver: Bogus, or Buy it?
I've seen on car websites & eBay, etc. these razor-type metal thingys that go in you engine, meant to increase horsepower & mpg/save gas. "Flo-Blade" "Turbonado" & so on,,,do these work? It looks to be a simple & inexpensive mod to save some
But is it true, or do these possible gimmicks just take up space?
Any professionals that can shed some more insight, or does any1 have these in your Scions & get results? Thanks

Exactly right Tomas. The engineering on that Tornado thing is sooo flawed. Like the vortex is going to make it past the throttle body. LMAO
I've actually read stories about those things coming apart and pieces getting sucked up into the motor. Still desperate people will spend good money in an effort to save money on fuel.

ok, along similar lines: what about these lil' ECU computer chips that supposedly "Fool" the engine into more HP & a better 0-60 increase? Are these Junk as well? Thanks for ya'lls responses/input
They are usually just $.12 resistors hidden in some sort of fancy package that fools the ECU into thinking that the engine is running lean so it dumps more fuel into the mix and runs richer. There MAY be a very, very slight gain in power (or possibly a loss) and your fuel usage usually goes up because you are just dumping excess un-burned fuel into the cat converter making it overheat.
Don't waste your money on them.

Good to see the topic revived after a month!

Oh, also some newbie ?'s: how do you Edit the original topic that you originated/posted?
Also, what are those red "bars" 1-5 to the upper-right of the profile pic??? thanx

Hey Rex,
You ever watch Mythbusters? There is a episode they did on fuel saving additives and technologies you would probably get a kick out of watching... you might be able to find it on YouTube, or if you have a Tivo they may re-air it soon... basically it disproved every single "money-saving" tech/additive out there.
Paul34 said it best, if it were really that easy, everyone would be all over it. Still, try to find the show if you can, it's very entertaining...

Bump.
What's this Ethanol stuff (in plain English please)? I've heard mixed emotions on it, supposedly it's better for the environment, but overall damages the car's performance?
Help me out; let's get Gassy!
